The V71 Mark X ~ Fiberglass Shell

Why is there arguing?

Is it over people saying that this is screen accurate and what not, when it may not be?

Just tryin to figure out whats going on is all…

Exo, that makes mine look like louve works of art!

I think it;s the difference between a propmaker for a film making something meant to just last during a film shoot, and devoted fans doing their best to recreate something they have a passion for.

When you work on props. you know the camera misses a LOT, so you spend as little as possible and devote the least amount of time to get the job done.

Oh totally. And yeah, I’ve been involved in enough obsessive groups (online and off) to know the archetype. I’m quite an openness fan that’s all - “for the good of all” and all that. I’d release measurements (or at least photos) if I got hold of a pack so while I don’t expect it of other people it does disappoint me when they don’t.

That said - this isn’t the case right now, I may just shoot Sean an email and ask. No harm trying.

Pretty much Charlie - people quibble saying things like “oh that pack is only like.. 96% accurate”. Bullshit. Flynn railed against that type of ■■■■ recently - as he showed, the screen packs can (can, not always do) look like ■■■■ in places (especially the GB2 recast packs - they are ugly as hell).

I’m all for accuracy - but informed deviation from accuracy is fine too - you just need a reason (like that ugly gun tip).

Flynn, you said that the thing comes with the booster tube, does that include a plug? thought about that just now and figured i would ask.

ps the anticipation is killing me. do you know when you will be shipping these? i will not be around to get it from my porch from dec 24th till january 8th. no rush, just wanted to make arrangements if need be.

Yes they will include the booster plug, as for shipping at this time I will probably wait until after the new year, I have personally be experiencing some shipping issues due to the X-mas season recently and would hate to experience them on a costly item like this… Right now most companies have stopped shipping with guaranteed X-mas delivery and if I was to ship now or shortly, the chance of it getting caught up in both the X-mas and New Years holiday is VERY likely…

So as much as I would like to kick them out as soon as they are done, I feel much better waiting a few weeks right now just to be safe…

Good idea, I’m quite happy to wait rather than incur the wrath of overworked shippers, or have the package simply get lost in the rush…

No problem with me. I am assuming that the shipping includes insurance just in case, right?

Yep…

well even though insurance is a pain in the ass for the mail, it is still worth it. now the hard thing is to prove the value on something like this ;). i suppose you could say something like “it is an unlicensed nuclear accelerator” to try to prove the value ;).

Haha…I would NOT recommend telling the post office about your unlicensed nuclear accelerator you’d like shipped…

No problem proving value, everyone has Paypal receipts…

Well it would be more “hey you guys lost my unlicensed nuclear accelerator, but thats ok, I paid for insurance!”

Exoray, just out of curiosity, will you be making the booster plug flush with the top of the booster tube, or extending past it? Personally, I find it a little bit more interesting visually in the “up” position, when it’s visible over the tube. What does everyone else prefer?

You will be able to set it however you want, I will provide the tube (rough cut to size, it will need some sanding but not alot) and the plug you simply glue in…

The tip looks like that because of the heat from the strobe light that they used in it, remember, they didn’t have LEDs back then, so I’m sure that thing got pretty hot during frequent use!

I beg to differ the tip looks like that because it’s a ■■■■ poor sloppy “good enough for film” casting of a hero gun… the tube is clearly aluminum in the hero guns, not something that would melt…

The gun pictured did not have full hero electronics, it just had background quality lights installed…

And fiberglass isn’t like plastic, it doesn’t melt and deform in that fashion from heat, and if it did the clear acrylic would have surely melted and burned before any fiberglass damage…

All good points…

Any idea on how much one of these shells will cost?

$350 shipped on the pre-order closer to $400 after that…

How much for a bumper? And what will they be made of? Fiberglass as well?
