AJ has been nothing but helpful. It is with his creation and maintenance of this site that people willing to really do something about wanting a proton pack can do it. Through reference pictures, plans, selling of real parts. The simple fact as other people have said is that these things(built most accurately, especially with lights and sounds WILL cost a lot) Far more than what you’re willing to spend, aside from parts, hell labor.
Many people have chosen alternative methods/substitutes/creativity/imagination to make a cheaper proton pack that are MORE than halfway decent and in fact very good. Radar, Bradester etc. The fact is no one likes to come on here and see someone basically beg for pity or handouts. It’s really nothing personal. It happens a lot closer to Halloween usually. Someone comes in the middle of October expecting to buy something for nothing. There is a wealth of information documented on this site as well as many old topics covering every aspect of building every part of the proton pack in minute details as well as many people with the knowhow and experience willing to help along the way.
Even people without access to tools more than hot glue scissors and cardboard have done amazing things. You have a few options…

Also looking around at what other people have done in the fan props section. Virtually anyone can make a proton pack. This site is useful and helpful for people willing to put in some kind of an effort. Again it’s nothing personal or trying to be mean, it’s just the way things are.
LeonardD, you need to take things into perspective. This forum is a nice place and everyone likes a good discussion.
However, trying to get a whole proton pack for less then 300$ is like trying to buy a lamborghini for less then 1000$. Won’t happen, simply because there’s more value in that then what you’re willing to see.
There’s a price for the material and time involved in making those parts and projects. If its so valuable for you, you should understand that.
Stating that “we can forget about you” ain’t going to change the facts, you’re trying to enter the realm of replica propmaking, but trying the wrong way. Look in any fandom, you’ll see that movie memorabilia is pricey - not by choice, but because that’s what’s the cost is.
Lightsabers retail over 100$, Phasers over 80$, Pulse Rifle over 1000$ and Flux Capacitor over 300$. Try and make it cheaper if you can, but people trying to help with parts and props aren’t trying to rip anyone off. Being mad at people trying to help won’t make anything better.
Personally, I’m still relatively new here. In the process of making my own proton pack - still in the planning and acquiring parts phase. Been doing prop replicas for a while, I’ve seen a lot more help here then in some other fandom, and greater deals around here then some other places. Of course, nothing is free… people try their best to help out but don’t want to loose money in the process. Overall, I’d think this place is good for anyone willing to do what’s needed.
Do you homeworks. Research, try to find alternatives, make your own stuff, but stop complaining people don’t give out their hard labour when you’re not willing to do your part.

This thread is actually in a response to a PM I sent LeonardD, asking if he was able to operate all the functions of the site and if he had any kind of deficiencies that caused him to operate it at less than full capacity.

Thanks for the kudos, too. : ) People have lots of ways to build packs, and there are sooooooo many materials, brands, “official” parts, parts that look like real parts, kitbashing, welding, hot gluing, carboard, paper, styrene–whew! The list is endless. : )
