TV.............

this mar or may not have been noticed before, but i’ll say it anyway. Why on Gods earth is it only GHOSTBUSTERS 2 THAT GETS REPEATED ON TV :sigh: :angryvigo: . WHY THE SH**IER ONE? :angryvigo: fans want to watch the best, the best being the original, so why air the one that will make people go, “Eeeeeeeeeegh, do i really wanna watch this?” i mean, 'cause its gb, fans watch it anyway, but seriously, make people wanna watch the stuff on your channel!

my rant is over, let me hear your opinions!

My guess is that it’s probably cheaper to license the TV rights.

Maybe to incite you to buy the DVD, Blu-ray…

i have to agree with throwingchicken here, and btw, not dissing 2 or anything, it is still good, but everyone knows 1 was better.

I like both of them equally and I have seen them both on TV not just the second movie this past year.

I just get a more powerful feeling from the end of GB2 for some reason than I do with GB1 and especially watching within the last 13 years. Why I don’t know for sure.

Murray’s rant on Vigo is legendary.

GB2 was early 90s era and the original was mid 80s; two different times with different flavors. Also GB2 had essence of the RGB cartoon. I like them both equally.

I’d guess TC’s logic would be correct. Also why Rob Schneider movies appear a lot and later Sandler movies. Pssh, Happy Madison probably BUYS the air time for those titles.

i think that the movies didn’t need to be like the cartoon, the cartoon should be more like the movie, but that wouldn’t have happened, but they only made it cartoonish in some bits, others were down right creepy… hmph headsonsticks hmph

Likeness rights made the two separate. They couldnt model the characters after the actors.

yeah, i know… but they made akyroyd fatter and hudson shave his tache so it was more like the cartoon.

GB2 is more “family friendly”

I believe they were made to look different in the cartoon as a marketing strategy. Same thing they did with tmnt. They want to make it easy for kids to differentiate the characters. Also they wanted to appeal to children that may be taller, fatter, different hair colors etc.

Here in the UK I’ve not noticed Ghostbusters 2 being repeated on TV more than Ghostbusters 1. In fact I was pleasantly surprised when I saw some random obscure satellite channel was showing Ghostbusters 2 as I hadn’t seen that on UK TV for a decade, while Ghostbusters 1 gets shown by one channel or another at least once or twice a year.

Last night the Prince Charles cinema in London Leicester Square did a double-bill of Ghostbusters 1 and 2, that was awesome. Cinema was pretty packed.

Each time I’ve been there it’s been packed.

Often some of my fellow costumers from the U.K. Ghostbusters will be in attendance, so it’s worth keeping an eye on the UKGB forum to see when/if they’re going.

I remember back in the mid to late 90’s, Comedy Central aired GB II almost every month and more so around New Years. Maybe it does better ratings?

I wanted to like this comment more than just +1 but just not possible.

I would risk saying that here in portugal GB1 hasn’t been on tv in more than a decade AT LEAST. And for GBII I’d say two decades. (I have no idea for sure but I have no recollection of these movies ever being on tv in a very long time, at least on the 4 main channels, available to the general public).
