Hi everyone, just thought I would introduce myself. My name is Ben and I live in Luton in Bedfordshire. I am putting together my first pack at the moment. I will definately be going to collectormania to meet Ernie. Glad to see so many other UK ghostbuster fans.

Drat… Adam’s had to cancel his commitment to the show. 
Hopefully Boba Fett and Biggs can help to make up for that, though… as all three of my brothers and I had planned to attend the event on Sunday.
No Collectormania for me cause, quite frankly, I’m broke right now (train tickets are gruesomely expensive at times) and can’t get tomorrow off work because they cannot manage without me. In addition I’ve been put on prescription pain meds which leave me very tired and groggy.
I am terminally gutted. Hope everyone that goes has a great time. Maybe i’ll catch it the next time round.
On the plus side my Iona shoe polisher arrives tomorrow (which will remind me of money I shouldn’t have spent), sadly my motherboard still hasn’t arrived… being lost somewhere between canada and here.

Hey gang. 
First of all, greatly impressed with C10. It was my first con and it was quite an atmosphere… I would recommend just saying a word of thanks to the good proppers in costume… they do so much for the spirit of things and sometimes I think they don’t get the credit they deserve. Major props (Pun not intended 
) to the Stormtroopers, the speeder bike rider, the Jedi and the Colonial Marine.
Secondly… I’ve had the opportunity to be near some well known celebrities… I’ve been near Terry Pratchett and I believe, Sir Christopher Lee… and I even attended my brother’s University Graduation, which also featured Jeremy Clarkson (Of BBC’s Top Gear) receiving an honorary degree for his work promoting Isambard Kingdom Brunel…
But this was something else.
The Photoshoot: There was indeed a photoshoot with Ernie yesterday… and I’m sad to say he was dressed in a Ghostbusters II dark blue uniform and Proton Pack. 
On Ernie: I had heard a lot of things prior to the event, primarily among them was that he was a great guy and that he was a real class act. I had, however… heard of one rare account where he’d been perceived as mean spirited to the reportee… however I was a little skeptical due to other reports. My brothers and I arrived around 1PM GMT after travelling from a town a few miles away… and trying to work out where TheCenter: MK actually was… it might be a planned town but they can’t properly signpost to save their lives.
As it turned out, Ernie had stepped out for lunch and as there was no notice on the sign beside his queue… it was unknown when he would be returning. So I went off and pottered around the convention, seeing some pretty cool things and some nice merchandise.
As an asside, Lance Henriksen is surprisingly older in appearance then I would’ve expected… even if his hair was dyed for A.V.P..
I eventually returned to the queue and I was able to work out that Ernie would be back by a quarter to two, so as I waited the last 15 minutes or so I started getting my things ready… I also stepped over to a mother and her daughted to congratulate them on raising a new generation of Ghostbusters fans. The girl was dressed in a GB2 T-shirt, and in her mother’s words was mad for it. I had also stepped over to tell them when Ernie was reported to be arriving back… but as it turned out, they’d already met him. 
The queue eventually opened up in aprehension of his arrival, and I stepped in. First in line. I collected a 10 x 8, paid the man at the desk ?30 for two autographs (This will make sense in a moment or two) and chatted a while… as it happened there were a few good pictures and it was a hard choice over what I already had at home and what would work well for a signed item. I eventually went for one of the four actors in costume stood in front of Ecto-1. I eventually moved on and waited… and as this happened a girl in the queue next to mine muttered some frustration… apparantly her camera batteries had died… so ‘ever the gentleman’ I was raised to be, I began to dig through my camera bag for some batteries. It was understandable, their annoyance. They’d queued up to see David Wenham and as he wasn’t doing posed photographs… it was one of their few chances to get a photo for him.
Sadly I couldn’t complete the ‘gentlemanly’ goal, Ernie had arrived.
So, yep. The first impression I gave Mr. Ernie Hudson, was me on the floor digging through by pag and looking up at him like a rabbit caught in the headlights.

Sadly, the girls had moved on to David so I had to abandon that. I walked forward, gave what was likely a nervous smile and as I deposited my ‘to be signed’ items, and autograph ticket (Which just explained to the guest how many signatures the patron had paid for, and if they wanted a personal signing). I’d read it was good to get off on good terms so I opened with a joke:
"Maybe we should’ve talked earlier for co-ordination so we wouldn’t wear the same outfit (Ghostbusters T-Shirt).
I sincerely hope it helped break the ice… I was at least given the effect it did. But to be on the safe side, I also added: “It’s nice to meet you, Mr. Hudson.”
(I can’t remember the exact exchange of dialogue and the flow of the conversation, but here’s as close a recollection as humanly possible.) I began by talking about his career, saying I thought his performance and role in The hand that Rocks the Cradle was very sympathetic, and I asked him what scene he enjoyed from it. He explained it had been one of the ones where he’d been with the villian of the piece, as played by Rebecca De Mornay. The conversation briefly meandered where we discussed that it was a shame she wasn’t getting as much work as she should be.
It then meandered onto Ghostbusters… I had wanted to keep it brief as everyone talks about Ghostbusters.
I believe he mentioned he enjoyed doing it, and that amusingly a Ghostbusters 3 patch had materialised on his table. He remarked how he’d seen some online but didn’t know where it’d come from, suggesting playfully that it might’ve been placed there by the studio.
Note: Before anyone takes this to heart, it was only the well-worn and overused ‘three-finger’ logo varient… and that Ernie seems a very playful guy. .

Of course, meeting him and getting the autographs was a pretty cool experience. But the Pi?ce de r?sistance was getting my photo taken with him.
Compliments to the staff member who took it… and also kudos to Ernie for re-posing after the first shot didn’t take on the camera.
After that, I collected my things, thanked Ernie (To which in my memory recollection) and he said it had been a pleasure.
I wish now that I’d said I thought he deserved some more notable roles, but… on the flipside… it could be that as he has only a few big roles to his name… he treats them with such a level of respect which you don’t see with ‘more famous’ actors. It’s a flipsided thing most actors and actresses could learn from. I also wish I had asked him about some of his new films.
The rest of the event was enjoyable… there was plenty to see and buy, and I picked up some nice things along the way… including an accurate shoulder patch which will eventually be making it’s way to my costume.
Sadly, I didn’t bump into any guys in costume… a few people in Ghostbusters t-shirts but no particle accellerators.
Sorry the account was dramatic… but well, I wanted to try convey what happened and how I felt. It was fun, exciting and it was great to see that Ernie Hudson is as great a guy as everyone says he is. . If you ever have the chance to meet him, take it.

Just a quick question, but where do all you guys get your pack-to-gun hoses? homebase or b&q or something like that? i was gonna use a hose from a inflatable paddling pool pump but i don’t think its long enough.

Check these guys out in the Conduit. I got 5m of 23mm non split conduit (so, no need for cable ties or tape, there’s a white stripe down the pipe, but that could easily be covered over with a perma marker pen).
