USS Intrepid GB1 Screening 7/9/10

Just saw this posted on Proton charging. I plan to take our franchise there with the Ecto-4, looking to contact their management about working with them later today.

Anyone else in the region going or already have plans? I don;t want to step on any toes, but there’s no way we’re missing this.

i’m there!!! wondering if i should go in full gear…anyone else want to gear up and meet there?

nevermind…i just realized i’ll be out of town that weekend. d@mmit! i’ll have to make it to the next showing, whenever that may be, no matter what.

Wonder how many GBs - in full gear - we can get to turn up? (Hopefully the weather will be nice).

Would be nice to work with them, instead of just turning up.

I, for one, will be there.

If anyone wants to car pool - splitting the gas, tolls and parking - I am open for it.

I have a 6-7 seater car - with room for 2-3 packs in the back (unless folks have them on their laps) and will be leaving from Holmdel, New Jersey.

Best central pick-up points would be the GS Parkway rest stop @ Raritan-Driscoll Bridge or Exit 11 Turnpike rest stop (the Northbound side).

Drop me a PM for those interested…

-edit-

I have reached out to the Museum 1) for a radio interview for a segment I produce and 2) to see if they would be interested in a group of GBs on-site for (their use and ours) promotional purposes.

Cool! I’m in Long Island, but I’d be down for checking this out.

I may try for this, but july is already looking pretty hectic

I reached out to the Museum on June 10th, no response at all.

You’d think these events would want free publicity.

They couldn’t just hold it in September when I’ll be there, could they?

There goes my chance to get my Ecto on an aircraft carrier.

They can’t even get an FDNY battalion rig up there during Firefighter weekend.

Just heard back from the Museum. For my radio segment, they are good for an interview…

…in regards to Ghostbuster franchisees in full gear - they have passed the information over to the marketing department.

Thanks for the update.

I gently let them know in their e-mail that odds are, GB’s are going to show up in full gear regardless of invitation. Be it people here, or joe schmoe with an inflatable pack.

Hopefully they are willing to play ball, the last two screenings my team went to were sold out and made it onto major news outlets.

I can’t imagine why they would think about passing on that.

Exactly. It’s a win-win situation. Great promotional material towards their future screenings and nice kicker story for TV news outlets… perfect for the 10 (or 11) pm news. Believe me, I know. :sigh:

Since i’m a poor broke photojournalist without a uniform, pack or life, i’ll be going to this old school…most likely in my Stay Puft Hot Topic shirt.

Still no answer from their marketing department.

If anyone thinking about bringing there kid(s) in, I can probably put you up for the night. I’m going to take my kids, ages 5 and 7, and we are within walking distance (more or less).

Past few days have been over 90 degrees here.. i dont know if im down to gear up in july.. ill melt before the proton pack goes on

tempting..but after melting in a suit here for 40+ hours a week, id rather wear my gear in cooler weather

good luck to everyone else who goes though, it should be great.

Still no word from the museum, seems the event might be deciding not to decide if they want GB’s and just letting whomever shows up, show up.

Hot, possibly, but it’s on the water and starts at 7PM, so it shouldn’t be too bad.

Finally heard back from the PR department at the Intrepid. Apparantly they though we were paranormal investigators like “taps”, and felt that would be bad PR and disrespectful to the museum. Once I explained what ghostbusters franchises actually are, they seemed a bit more interested.

They have a very stringent process for approval to have a fan group at their event, I was requested to submit a portfolio to them for consideration if they want to have my team present or not.

This could get interesting.

Starting to sound like too much of a hassle if you ask me. It’s not like both your group and my group don’t already have plenty of people excited to have us show up. Sending a portfolio? Consideration? It’s a showing of a comedy film…lighten up Intrepid!

It’s not worth it, IMHO.
