I did a search on this and didn’t come up with any results so again I’m thinking its a detail the only someone as OCD as me would think about…but here goes…
On the GB1 hero packs…how were the v hooks mounted? The reason I ask is.. looking around the for sale section you will find a couple of folks selling v hooks…all are great quality but Franchesky sells his v hook pre drilled to countersink a slot head 8 32 screw so the mounted v hook shows the top of the slot heads where jimbo7 threads a screw through the back of a mount block into the v piece so that only the threaded end of the screw is visible…which of these method is accurate to GB1 or did they use both methods?
GB2 packs that were built new for filming had the counter sunk heads outside the pack. Packs that were converted for GB2 most likely would have kept their original hook set up.
I’m sure if I missed something, some one will correct it.
I was worried that was what was going to be said…i jumped the shark and altered my v hook to counter sink slot heads last night…let this be a lesson folks…when in doubt…dont…until you consult this site… it will still look good regardless…its just a detail that will nag me a little bit.
Joe’s spot on with both calls. The GB2 semi heroes had the countersunk screws which held the thrower at an angle. Whereas the GB1 packs had the v hook with the bolts threaded from the inside. I can’t confirm if all the GB1 packs retrofitted for GB2 kept this configuration but the Stantz and Spengler packs certainly did.
Well it is my first pack build so mistakes will be made…certainly not going to purchase another vhook for that small of a detail. Live and learn…pack number two will benefit from these tidbits
Indeed sir…i want to eventually build an as accurate as possible gb1 hero pack aluminum parts and thrower so these little nuggets of wisdom are being noted. Thanks for chiming in guys
The Venkman/Archive Pack was refitted with the external countersunk screws for GB2. Of course, considering that this is the pack that they disassembled and molded for the semi-hero packs, it’s not surprising that they would modify the v-hook to match the newer packs.
Very interesting. I wonder if this v-hook was replaced also because Murray was the one that complained the most and probably didn’t like the hard to reach angle of the original V-Hooks.
I must have worded my search incorrectly…i figured it had been discussed somewhere…i was at work searching gbfans on my phone at the time… ya know…instead of working… thanks for bringing that thread to my attention julz.
