VideoBob Proton Pack on Pawn Stars (8/8/2013)

Hey guys. I didn’t see this posted anywhere, but if I overlooked it I am sorry. My brother just called me and told me that this weeks new episode of ■■■■ Stars featured a guy selling a proton pack. I have not een the episode yet so I can not speak to the quality of the pack or who was selling it. Here;s the description from PawnStars.com

**

Corey’s Big Splurge

Premiere Date:August 08, 2013 - 09:30-10:00PM ET**

Who you gonna call? The ■■■■ Stars! The guys remember the 80’s as they check out a replica of the proton pack from “Ghostbusters.” Will they give this item a ghost of a chance? Then, a seller brings in an original work by the street artist Banksy. Can Chumlee convince the Old Man that street art is valuable? And later, Rick and Corey take their 1951 “Steve McQueen” Chevy to an auction. But when Corey sees a classic Plymouth Roadrunner, will he spend a king’s ransom to buy his dream car?

Anyone see it yet?

In this week’s episode of a television store that poorly researches their guests: it’s videobob! Again!

And they gave him too much for it/less than he sells them for

Next episode: What great lengths will he go to be on ■■■■ stars again?!

oh no!!! What the hell?

And using it to sell packs…

As the old saying goes, “a ■■■■ and his money are quickly parted”.

I saw it, I chringed.

It was pretty terrible for a “well researched” pack. When the guy has assembly lined the packs I don’t understand why each one looks so wrong in all different ways. It’s like he assembles them by throwing the parts at them from across the room and just leaving them wherever they stick.

Seller felt he won by getting 1050. They will probably price it at like 3,000 in their store.

if you look on videobob’s page he says he was willing to let it go so cheap just to have the exposure again…

I got excited when a friend told me someone was selling their pack on ■■■■ Stars then I found out who it was…man what a tool with his suspenders and goofy hat. Wonder if the average television viewer can tell he’s a ■■■■■■.

I’ll go ahead and say that average viewer has no idea about the ■■■■■■ factor. I remember seeing him on that auction show selling a Delorean before I knew his reputation, and I had no idea what his whole deal was.

Pump your breaks.

You’ve been a member here for 2 years and it took you seeing him trying to sell his delorean on the same show a couple weeks back before you knew his reputation?

Seriously? How does this happen? There’s a massive discussion about him that gets bumped weekly!

Wait he was on ■■■■ Stars with the Delorean? I was talking about that other Auction Kings show which I think was from 2011. I have been aware of Video Bob for sometime, so if he was on ■■■■ Stars with a Delorean as well, than I missed that one.

whew, i totally misunderstood.

No worries! Watching the other ■■■■ Stars episode now. Slowly getting a headache from having to repeatedly roll my eyes.

So whats the deal with Videobob? I tried to go through the forums to find out about him a while back and lost interest when I gathered that he was a D-bag and wasn’t worth my time, but this got me curious.

Is he just a D-bag in general or did he do something specific?

Short and sweet of it:

He’s an ■■■■■■■ that tries to make money off of any franchises wherever he can, advertising shoddily made props, or props recast from other makers that he gets made by his team of lackeys. His products are inferior, and he’s actively tried to bully other people into giving into his demands.

So the prop on the episode was probably recasted off of someone else’s shell and he was talking about trips to Hollywood to take exact measurments and remaking everything himself. Wow…

Just about every part on that pack was recast (or a recast of a recast, etc). Any parts not recast look awful and are horribly inaccurate.

His general knowledge of the packs is terrible; strange, since the lineage of the packs seems to be the only thing he hasn’t stolen from this community.

He’s never taken measurements from any real pack himself. To my knowledge, only two non-professional groups have been able to measure the hero pack at Sony. Blob obtained the reference images currently hosted on GBFans through unscrupulous means, and it took DMCA claims to get them removed from his website(s). He does however, claim that he took them, when in reality, the only photos he’s ever taken of the packs at Sony are through the glass cases.

The pack he sold is utter garbage, even compared to the usual junk his “shop” churns out.

I have seen him on tv a lot but I didn’t know anything about him. Thanks for the info.

I don’t know anything about proton pack replicas partly because I know I could never afford them but even I thought that pack didn’t look that great either.

He said that he had someone do the stickers for him but I thought I have seen stickers like those for sale before or am I wrong?

I don’t know much about making packs, but even with my limited knowledge I knew everything he was saying wrong/lies. I also commented to the person I was watching it with, that something looked off about it but I couldn’t figure it out.
