Hello fellow Ghostheads,
Welcome my first progress log post for the building of my proton pack. I have already built one of Irricanian’s trap kits, which turned out incredible, but now it’s time to move on to the pack. My goal is to have it completed by Halloween! Now I know a lot of people out there are thinking, good luck! ha, but I’ve been researching the topic and keeping on top of most other builds on here and feel I’m more than prepared to turn this project over by October 31! Another key factor is that I actually have about 90% of the parts for the pack to complete it, and am currently waiting on all of the gun parts from Colin as well. I have not, however started piecing it together, hence this post…
So, be gentle it’s my first time! ![]()
So far, I have:
• Midwest (loveusmonkey) pack shell - I really wanted one of Exoray or Colins pack shells, but time was a crunching… This is supposedly one of the newer molds, which I picked up second hand (it was two weeks old when I got it) from eBay. I’ll probably reinforce the thin walls similar to Governor.
• Irricanian’s Aluminum motherboard - waiting on shipping, courtesy US Customs…
• Irricanian’s proton pack parts, including HGA, Booster tube/plug, PPD, ion arm extension, ribbon cable/clamp/plates, Injector tubes, pack hose set, ion arm resistors, crank knob and a couple of dixie hooks
• filler tube & handle - Bought from Irricanian, but will not work on this specific pack shell, bought 1in PVC tube which was cut and will be filled.
• Resin booster frame - picked up from the wanted forum, thanks Denike.
• Midwest bumper - waiting on it to arrive, supposedly new mold but we’ll see.
• L brackets to attach mobo to shell - bought from Lowes
• Bumper knob/shock mount - Made using Marsupial’s washer trick, awesome alternative btw
• Lenses for power cell and cyclotron lights - made using 8x10 piece of lexan with Testor’s brand translucent acrylic enamel, cut to fit
• 1/4 in diameter copper rod for ion arm assembly - looking for aluminum block to make actual arm
• A.L.I.C.E. frame - picked up from the local surplus store, already black with green straps/etc
What I do not have:
• Clippard R331 or R701 - I’m wanting the real ones… But may have to settle for resin replicas.
• All fitting and elbows for tubes/wires/loom
• Pack labels - I need some and, based on what I was reading, want to stay away from those $22 eBay ones.
• Electronics for lights - I have the schematic from here and do have a friend who has an electronics degree, but time and securing the not-so-easy-to-find parts may either have me buying one of Exoray’s kits or going without lights! ![]()
Right now I’m completely going over the pack shell and sanding down any imperfections that I find. Then I’ll throw a bit of satin black paint over it, plus the resin parts need paint. Here’s hoping that I actually finish before Halloween.
Now on to the pictures…

Some of the resin parts I got from Colin.. Also pictured are the copper rods that will go on the ion arm.

A simple mock up of the pack. Note the small white spots on the pack are where I cleaned up the trash in the mold.

Close up of the mock up. I still need to trim the back and right side of the pack to fit the mobo (when it arrives)

The 8x10 lexan that has the power cell and one of the cyclotron lights cut out. Still need to hit them up with transparent paint.

Some more touching up…

Last one I have… Kinda looks like I used that Fullers Earth(?) powder method, but it’s just shavings, lol
I epoxied the injector tubes together and painted them, also the booster tube was epoxied and painted. More pictures to come.
Steven
