Try midtown comics on 42nd street, or lexington and 42nd, or down by the South street seaport, or forbidden planet in Union Square, but avoid toys r us.
Toys R Us won’t have ghostbusters stuff, most likely. BUT DONT SKIP IT. I guess you can skip it if you have giant lego versions of New York monuments and animatronic Tyrannosaurs.
Fanboy is right about Forbidden Planet, though. Don’t skip that!
Yea, I went to midtown and bought some nice stuff. Forbidden planet is pretty expensive. TOYs R Us dont really stock anything decent, and its rammed 24-7!
Dont for get to check out the fire station (Check out my avatar!)
And you can go inside (to the crown) the statue of liberty but you have too book online in advance, and not that many people get to go in, so check availability as soon as possible.
Oh, and if you were thinking of finding the fountain where Venkman meets Dana after her rehersal… don’t bother. Its been re-modelled and looks nothing like the film any more.
As adam_fozz said, make sure you visit Hook & Ladder 8 in TriBeca - it’s right off of the subway and absolutely worth it. Actually seeing the fire house in person is pretty humbling…
When I was there last year Toys R Us had ready to believe you minimates & exploding Staypuft moneybox.
Like the others have said, Midtown comics and forbidden planet are definates, and I think you will find them cheap compared to the UK and Australia!!
Most of the GB filming sites are easily reachable on the subway, DO NOT MISS THE FIREHOUSE!! (again, easily gotten to on the subway) it is the coolest thing to see in person! I posted some pics of one of my trips in the Australia section.
i was in time square Jan 2011 and the Toys R Us only had a few of the Retro action figures. so that might be a place to start for “new” gb items. but TRU changes their inventory all the time. take fanboy’s advice.
I can tell you right off the bat that the Midtown comics suck if your a Ghosthead, they dont have anything Ghostbusters wise, I work in Midtown and visit them from time to time
