Please forgive me if this is addressed somewhere in this sea of forums. I was a bit overwhelmed and figured I should just ask my question rather than seach for who knows how long.
I noticed the sale going on right now and figured I should finally get the stuff I need to add to my proton pack (I still can’t believe I own one!). The thing is, I’m not entirely sure where some things go because I’m not familiar with what certain parts of the pack are called.
The brass elbow is actually 2 pieces, the fitting and the hose barb that screws into it. Technically they’re seperate pieces but you get both when you order one. The hose barbs on their own were also used on the thrower.
Set aside a couple hours and research the pack, and soon your head will be full of information that is completely useless to anyone outside this community, just like the rest of us.
Wow man …its funny you say that , I spent a few mins. on the phone with a friend of mine and was explaining some of the progress I have done on my pack ,naming parts in the conversation …needless to say 5 min into it he had no idea what part of what I was talking about and it was then I knew I was now a Geek like everyone else here …and I love it that much more now.. Research is key to an awesome pack …
When I started planning my second pack build, I printed every page of the three major plans (Norm’s, Sean’s, and Stefan’s) and put them in a binder together. I spent time reading every part of the plans. This helped me Learn the names of every component, its placement on the pack, and its relationship to other parts. That way, when I have a question for the forum, I barely have to think about it to reference it by name. Believe it or not, if you live with this stuff long enough, you will be able to imagine every minute detail of your pack (even the parts you haven’t built yet!) I’m still in the process of building my new pack, but I guarantee having a “map/plan” burned into your brain will help you greatly when putting things together in the physical world.
