im trying to get my materials together to see where i want to go with my first proton pack project. ive been looking around on here and talking to numerous people and ive only heard of the resin, fiberglass, and vacuum shells.
some of them have said that the resin is a good one that gives a better look and has little clean up.
they mentioned that the vacuum shells break easy.
and lastly the fiberglass ones are hard to come by for some reason.
so my question is which is the best one to get a nice looking pack?
what are the pros and cons of each?
whats involved in doing each one?
is there more options besides building out of wood and junk?
is wood a good option or not?
anyhting else you would like to add would be appreciated. thanks
There’s no easy answer to this question. Your best bet is to read through the forum and decide which is best for your wants and needs. There will always be pros and cons on any pack. Ask yourself what aspects of the pack are important to YOU (durability, screen accuracy, weight, working features, cost) and then start making decisions. Count on it being a learning experience and don’t expect perfection on your first run.
I just remembered something that might be worth pointing out:
Don’t expect to get a nice, accurate Proton Pack for $200. If you’re not going to scratch-build everything yourself… expect to spend anything from maybe 800-2000 on parts and materials alone. Also, don’t expect to be done in a weekend… these things take a while.
