Whats this thing with the teeth?

I have to suck it up and admit that I am a horrible carpenter. I am working (or trying to) on my first ghost trap, but am having problems with my carpentry skills. Does anyone know of a good website or place I could look to get some tips on cutting wood for this type of project?

What kind of wood are you going to use? MDF?

A jigsaw/ sabersaw works well on MDF, just use a fine blade and go slow to stop blade waggle. I use my table saw to cut straight pieces and the jigsaw for the cutouts and angles.

If you use MDF wear a dust mask

Oh and, Measure twice ..cut once

I using pine. I have a bit of knowledge, however the trap plans called for 1/4" and it split down the middle, not sure but I think it was when i was trying to cut it. I also seem to be having a problem cutting a straight line. Using a hacksaw is there a technique to help this?

You’re using a hacksaw on wood? There’s your first problem, a hacksaw is mainly used for cutting metal.

Also, pine that thin will have a tendency to splinter on you (as it’s probably a plywood). You’d really be doing yourself a favor if you got MDF instead.

Agreed, MDF is the better option as far as wood goes. Pine has too much of a grain and splits too easily. MDF is cheap and easy to cvut and sand. I would still recommend a jigsaw/sabersaw as opposed to a hack saw.

He’d make a great ghost in GB3.. he’s already pretty scary looking!

Hell, ghost or not, I just hope they bust him in GB3.

I wonder if I go ahead and trace out the shape Gary Busey could just gnaw it out of the wood for me.

lol, I was hoping to find a gary busey nutcracker for next Christmas. Can’t you just picture it?

LOL.. Way too funny!

…but I’d buy one!
