Where to get a clear leg hose

I have been trying to get one but all of the 1/2od and 3/8id vinyl hoses have marks or writing on them that wont come off anybody have a good idea where to get one and not cost my life savings thanks.

Are you building a GB1 or GB2 suit? If you’re building a GB1 suit you need a yellow leg hose; which is stocked in the shop right now.

10 Bucks.

try home depot, they have clear hoses there. just get one about 5ft-6ft depending on how tall and how long you want it to hang and go from there.

make sure its the 1/2 inch I made that mistake.

Both Home Depot and Lowes carry pre-cut lengths of hose (usually 10 ft.) in small packages. This hose does not have the writing or foot markers on it.

The hose that comes on a big spool, that you cut yourself, will usually have the writing on it.

but the writting is easy to take off, just use a fine sandpaper and rub lightly over the words/letters and boom its gone

I boil my tubes to give them a little flex. This also helps with taking any print off the tube.

If you go to Lowes, the tubing only has small black dots marking each foot.

Very easy to take off.

Thanks for all the info guys. Appreciate it.

Also another note, the boiling thing and all, I just did that myself. I went to Lowe’s Hardware (same thing as Home Depot) and bought this roll of clear tubing, of correct size of course, and it was about 4-5 bucks. I then went and got some RIT Golden Yellow dye, and ruined a perfectly good bucket, and countertop…but thats beside the point. But this is what you do. Boil some water, get it almost to boiling, not quite rolling boil…just freakin hot. Then, in the bucket, pour the water in, slowly. Then mix in some (I did about half or so) of the RIT Dye. Use a bucket you don’t love and cherish…or something. It will be yellow. Then add in the hose, making sure it is entirely under the yellow water. Then mix around a bit. Let it sit in the hot water for a bit, about a half hour, to 45 minutes. I have my hose as proof that it works, great success. In summary,

1: Get a Bucket, and a packet of RIT Golden Yellow Dye.

2: Boil water in a pot of sorts. About 6-8 Cups-ish. I eyeballed it…just a full spaghetti pot will do.

3: pour almost boiling water into bucket.

4: Add Dye, stir with a spoon you don’t love either.

5: Add clear hose, fully submerging it in the dyed hot water. Don’t burn yourself. (lesson learned…boiling water is hot.)

6: Poke hose now and again to ensure full coverage of the dye on the hose, and no spotting happens. Keep pushing it around in the water, making sure the air is out, and that it’s still submerged, and the entire hose is getting the dye.

7: Do this for about an hour, or until the hose is the desired tint you’d like. The shorter it’s left in, the lighter the yellow. 45 minutes with a half of a packet of RIT tinted mine, I’d like to say, the perfect shade. Not too dark, but not washed out either.

8: Rinse in a sink, flushing out any excess dye and stuff. Then hang to dry. Or do what I did, and swing a yellow “pee tube” around outside like a moron for 10 minutes.

9: Enjoy.

I have been making a toddler flight suit and actually had a different method that has worked alright for my leg hose. For those of you familiar with it, alumalite makes their resin dyes now with a eye dropper built in. I grabbed my yellow and a paper towel. I put a good amount on the paper towel and started covering the tube in it. I have let it sit a while since the dyes tend to stay wet a long long long while. Some was still coming off when touched but not much so I just took some clear acrylic spray and gave it a quick coat. Now, this isn’t going to give you the best yellow hose in the world but it will work in a pinch.
