Not the actors but the characters themselves. I was talking about this with a few friends of mine and we all agree that Dana Barrett’s kid Oscar could be one of the new guys, maybe haveing his Mom be against his decision. For the others, we toyed with the thought of maybe the Kids of the Originals takeing over, but other than Winston I can’t picture any of them haveing a family, least of all Egon.
This has been talked about in more than a few threads over the years. Not trying to be a dick by no means, but your whole idea was thought up years ago:)

No big deal then, If it’s already been talked about then maybe an Administrator can lock the thread or remove it all togther.
Not a bad idea, but baby oscar all grown up as a ghostbuster i don’t know
Didn’t Aykroyd say that was his plan once?
Only way in hell I would watch a new GB movie is if Rob Wells was one of the busters…and Mike Smith.

First off, just because the Ghostbusters will be recruiting “younger people” does not mean they need to be nineteen years old. They just need to be younger than the original team is now… (Remember, Bill Murray was 34 when he made the first Ghostbusters movie, and Harold Ramis was 40).
Now, rather than creating totally new characters (that could be complete dissapointments - like those characters from Extreme Ghostbusters, or Shia LaBeouf from the 4th Indiana Jones movie) I’d just recruit already established characters from other movies - who have experience fighting the supernatural (so it’s be sort of like the idea of the Avengers movie).
I’d cast:
-
Corey Feldman as Edgar Frog from *the Lost Boys *movies.
-
Sarah Michelle Gellar as Buffy Summers - who is of course Buffy the Vampire Slayer
-
Andre Gower as Sean from The Monster Squad.
-
can’t think of a good example #4 at the moment, but you get my point!
And what if there’s copyright issues with a character like Buffy Summers? Then Sarah Michelle Gellar could just play a “Buffy-type” with a different name.
I doubt these actors would demand a huge salary (They might be well known, but they haven’t exactly been the biggest stars of the last ten years).
For this idea to work, nothing depends on Murray… If we could just see Aykroyd, Ramis, Hudson, Potts and Moranis, recruiting a team of Corey Feldman, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Andre Gower, then I think we’d have the potential for a truly great Ghostbusters sequel!
Okay, after reading this, I think the result would look something like this in the end:

Not that I think it would be bad ![]()
I actually mentioned this idea in a fan video, which on this thread:
If you skip ahead to 11:15, you’ll see a scene when the ghost of Peter encourages this idea on Ray, Egon and Winston.
Bad… as in crossing the streams type of bad. End of the world type stuff.
Dogs and Cats living together…
You get the picture.
:sigh: :eyeroll:
Nathan Fillion would work pretty good as a new team leader/member. He has the comedy and drama chops for it. IMHO anyway.
I hope they do use the Extreme GB, they’re the official new generation, lovable and unique characters which I find interesting.
The new characters which will be used in the film are going to start out as Uni students who are taken on by the Ghostbusters, which has always been an idea of their’s which they used the Extreme GB to experiment with, I just hope they carry it in with the characters they already created.

While Extreme Ghostbusters was entertaining they are not in any way the official new generation of Ghostbusters. Their canon lies within the continuity of the Real Ghostbusters. A cartoon that threw nods at the movies but in no way was truly connected to them. The movies are the only official canon. Plus EGB was only created by the studio to see how fans would accept the concept of bringing a new generation of GBs into the fold and nothing more.
I know they were only an experiment, but the characters are perfect and I’d love to see them used again
