XGB Theme Song.

I found (and won) an eBay listing for a CD single of the theme “by Ray Parker Jr.”

I’m hoping it’s actually the unaired full version from the cartoon and the lister just didn’t know who sang it.

check it out for yourself: Ray Parker Junior - Extreme Ghostbusters CD Single.

If it is the full XGB theme I will *definitely *be sharing.

I’ve never seen that before.

It does look somewhat professionally made.

You can get a lot of the Extreme GB songs here: http://www.theraffon.net/~spookcentral/egb_score.htm

The CD is from England so it’s possible that it’s a promo CD similar to the Fox Box CD that Toys R Us gave out.

The only downside would be it’s it’s actually what it says it is.

Either way it appears to be a rare collectible. So, even though it’s a win… I’m just not sure how much.

I’d be interested to see what it actually is. Let us know!

I’m sorry to say it is the movie theme.

I believe it was marketed at Toys-R-Us with the larger XGB toys, such as the Ecto-1.

Sadly it is just the movie theme…

But, know this: somewhere the complete version of the XGB theme exists and I will find it

When I do I will listen to it so many times that I won’t like it so much and probably skip past it on my mp3 player but, I will find it.

Pretty sure I have it and I’m pretty sure i downloaded it from a thread here years ago. I’ll check my archives when I get home from work. I’m not sure what the “complete” version entails but it’s definitely got more verses than the broadcast version.

I know there are versions out there that fans pieced together and although they sound good that’s not what I mean.

Much like older TV theme songs (Laverne and Shirley, Greatest American Hero etc.) a full song was produced but you never heard the whole song in the show.

I can only assume that there was a “full song”) done for XGB and only parts of it where used in the series and adverts.

I could be wrong. It could be that they only recorded those parts we know about and a “full version” simply does not exist.

I hope I’m not wrong but who knows.

The only way I can figure is to try to contact Jim Cummings and see what he knows.

I’m sure it doesn’t exist.

I remember reading a thread where somebody had contacted the composer and he said that it was written for the length of the title sequence so there is no “complete” version as it was never intended to function as a full song.

I remember somebody did a mix of the start and end music together, which made it about 3 mins long. I’m sure you could find it with a 5 minute search of the forum.

Yeah, the one I have is the one Garee pieced together in this thread: http://www.gbfans.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=17251 from the effects free verion from this thread: http://www.gbfans.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=10106 and an “end credits” rip to add in the verses:

When the things that slither in the shadows

Keep you up late at night

When there’s something lurking in your closet

who can make you feel alright?

There’s rumor of another verse mentioned in this thread but I’ve never heard it: http://www.gbfans.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=6774

there is a fan made full version on youtube its obviously fan made but still pretty good.

That actualy sounds like one of the versions I released. (I included the end logo sound effect as well, because though not actually part of the music, I always associated it with the music.)

The length is identical as well.
