You can't polish a turd, but I'm gonna try! Vacuform Refurb

Been crazy busy with the end of the semester so I haven’t had much time to work on it.

Nick wanted me to clear coat everything on his pack for protection so I used the rustoleum matte clear. The weather wasn’t optimal but it led to a really cool effect! Since it was cold the particles clumped together a bit in the air and created this awesome semi hammered finish. We contemplated using hammered black spray paint but it looked terrible. This looks amazing!

It’s real subtle and the exposure of this picture way over exaggerates it but you get the idea!

I filled the inside of the cyclotron rings with epoxy putty to allow the lenses to sit flush and have have depth in the cyclotron rings. It gives the illusion that the “rings” are real and thicker. No pictures of that process but basically what I do is fill the inside with putty, and then using a flat object with painters tape on it I literally push it from behind to flatten it out and let it cure. This leaves a perfectly flat area for the lenses to mount to and you can just pick the tape off when it cures, and then dremel the excess away.

Mounted the lenses and reflectors, you can see the depth effect here

Got the V hook attached, have to file down the screws a bit more flush

N filter mesh attached

PPD and legris substitutes (I believe these are alkon connectors? Not too familiar with them but that’s what he provided)

Most all of the parts are attached except for the bumper and the riser tower ion arm.

These things get in the way especially the Ion arm If I have to flip the pack over, so I’ll do those last.

really all I have to do is figure out how I want to mount the power cell lights, attach the ion arm and bumper, add the the hoses and clean the dust up off her.

The cyclotron LEDs are going to get mounted to the reflectors so I think it would be best to have the power cell lights mounted inside the power cell and not to the mobo.

Nice work. This thing has come a long way. I love the texture that the clear created.
