1984 Trap Pedal Build

I have been collecting parts for a trap pedal build to compliment my FreekyGeeky aluminum trap while also researching the screen used trap and other makers’ builds. First off, I used the aluminum parts from the GBFans pedal base kit but replaced the wood with somd solid poplar. I did this for a couple reasons.

First, I was worried that the wood would split when I drilled out the hole for the lock mechanism. Second, to me, when I look at pictures of that section, it looks like the wood is split down the middle.

Third, to me, based in the grain of the wood, it just looks more like solid wood, not plywood.

This was the trickiest part because I was basically working backwards to fit it to the existing aluminum but I think overall, it turned out pretty well. I had to compensate a little for the zigsaw blade when I split the wood. I added maybe one or two millimeters to the middle section. After cutting the two halves, I redrilled the hole for the lock mechanism then used wood glue to laminate the wood back together.

After getting everything squared away, I started attaching the project boxes and drilling out some holes but realized I didn’t have the correct tap for the 4mm Legris straight. Tomorrow, I’ll hit the hardware store but as of today, here is where I am at.

Also, ignore that I have the foster connector on the wrong side… sheesh… it has been fixed.

So I, as stated, somehow managed to put the Foster connector on the wrong side… I drilled and tapped the correct box then filled in the incorrect hole with Bondo. I had some free time so I worked through some of the other sections including adding in the arcolectric lens. I need to pick up a tap for the legris fitting, though. I was able to do some painting as well.

I have been collecting parts on this for ages so I dug up label and a dry rub from Charlesworth Dynamics.
