'67 Bonneville Ecto-1 Progress Thread

I recently traded for a 1967 Pontiac Bonneville hearse/ambulance combo and I’m going to be turning it into an Ecto. For more details on the car, see this thread: http://www.gbfans.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=22842

The only update I have as of right now is that I purchased a tag for it yesterday. “ECTO-1” was taken, so I had to get “ECTO-1A”. Oh well. Pics will be posted soon!

Woo!

:whatever:

Looking forward to this!

ECTO-1A is totally acceptable, by the way.

Give us a photo/video walkaround!

Well, here she is, in all her glory. I did my best to capture all the details I could. I didn’t really have good light.

i love pontiac pro cars so much.

Uh oh, you removed this car from the PCS…AND it’s a military ambulance on top of it! I’m not so sure I can support this conversion…it appears to be in too good condition. I don’t want to rain on your parade though, so good luck with it.

According to the paperwork that I got with it, it wasn’t originally used by the Navy. It was purchased from a funeral home in Texas by a naval officer with a thing for old ambulances. Before the funeral home, it sat in a field for a few years and was used as storage for paint cans. The officer bought it from the funeral home and converted it into what it is now. I’m told he used it for recruiting purposes.

I think its to nice of shape to turn it into an Ecto, there wasnt many Pontiacs converted into Pro cars. But its your and you do whatever you want to it

Best of luck. Can’t wait to see another Pontiac Ecto out there. I certainly wish ours had been in this kind of shape when we got it.

That’s a really gorgeous vehicle. Hope your conversion goes well!

Yeah, man, I too have mixed feelings. That car is a gorgeous classic, with nary a spot of rust.

What about just using some magnetic no-ghost signs for the doors…eh, eh? Anyone?

Please don’t convert this car. I agree with fifth, when you need it as an ecto slap some magnets on it, turn the lights and siren on and you’ll be set. The public will totally get it It will save you a lot of money and time and you can at least preserve this cars current shape

Great car, love the colour. Do you think you’ll keep those roof lights? They’re greeeat!

Ignore everyone telling you not to convert it. It is your car, do what you want!

Cant wait to see this finished

The 67 Pontiac never really screamed “Ecto” to me.

To me, a vintage ambulance, in good condition, is far more attractive than an Ecto.

If it was a shitbox that needed work, thats a different story.

Wow. That car looks amazing… AS IS.

I seriously would not convert it.

I would even leave the Navy stuff on it. It would be worth more in the long run to keep it as is. Wouldn’t be worth much at all if converted to an Ecto.

I get what you’re saying AJ, but the only reason I traded for this car is so that I could convert it. If I don’t convert it, then I really don’t have any use for it. My wife seems pretty interested in trying to make money off of it, but the whole point of my trading my Cobra for it was to make it an Ecto. I had that Mustang since I was eighteen and never wanted anything else, if that’s any indication as to how much I want this to happen.

This is going to sound asshole-ish so I apologise in advance, but there seems to be a lot of people (not just on the forums, but in reality as well) that want to tell me how valuable the car is, but nobody that would be willing to buy it. If I thought I could make money on the car then I would try.

You traded a Cobra Mustang for that?
