Read every bit of feedback about someone and their part before you throw your money around.
And do lots of research. When you think youre done; do it more.
Get familiar with the search function because 9 out of 10 times your questions have already been asked and answered. Those two questions you just asked about have both about them. Search the forums for your questions before you make a new thread. Don’t just read the first page of results either. Read them all until you are certain you can’t find it.
A good example; I have lots of posts to my name, but hardly any of them are from starting a thread because I search before I do and end up not having to start one.
Use the wiki. All the time.

CRISIS AVERTED. . .I mentioned a need for some sort of preliminary warning for newcomers to the site a few months ago . . To be honest half the people that I have turned on to this site through Con exposure etc LOVE Ghostbusters but this is there first stroll into the land of PROP Building . . They have never considered this hobby\ dare I say lifestyle until seeing me walk in a room and HEAT IT UP . . So they dont know the do’s and dont’s and whos what etc. . Needs to be some notice in the sign up . . Almost like a terms of use agreement they have to run through. . We almost had another Techdisaster thread . . .
Every new user gets a welcome PM that has a direct link to the blacklist.
Whether or not they read it, and then bother reading the blacklist is up to them… but it is something that was implimented last year.
I always feel bad for the people who’s first stop is ebay.
They probably think “Hey, it’s ebay so it must be legit!”
i think the same way, it’s typically a new member comes in to the chat room that wants a proton pack and they see all this great stuff on ebay. while they’re new to making proton packs, they’re probably even more new to prop making as a concept and dont understand the shady people from prop communities have had their ability to sell removed from communities, or people that know their parts arent on par with the stuff in communities but have access to implements to make their own parts still know they can sell on ebay. these sellers know what they’re doing and get angry when people notice that bring it to their attention.
there’s only few exceptions to that “rule” here, and it’s mostly people that just dont have a supporting membership and dont abuse the system or need an even quicker sale.
so these new people buy that stuff; not knowing any better; either have high praise and repeat business without seeing what else is out there, or they see other sellers and see how much they’ve been hosed and are upset they’ve lost so much money, time and work.
it happens here all the time. generally i try to do my best to steer new people away from buying on ebay and buying in the community from active users that join in discussions on the forums like aj and his shop, vincenzo330, nickatron, throwing chicken, jimbo7 and black mesa hero (who all have great character, worked to get us the best information, and incredible product), and i even try to do my best to help them find really good parts or ways to build their packs with their own individual budgets.
id venture to say that this is the most expensive prop hobby for a new person and could be really overwhelming.
personally, im more of a** “who they are” not a “what they have” **kind of person when im wanting to buy from someone and i hope to impress that upon new people, because waiting for THE thing, is as rewarding, if not more, than just straight up getting it from whoever has it in soapy bulk. im really happy as a clam i’ve waited as long as i have for a black mesa hero GB1 ribbon cable, tc’s v3 kit being available, aj’s hatlights, vince’s ion arm (and other metal parts AND his shell), and jimbo’s vhooks and the greatest part for me is i’ve been able to recommend every one of them to someone at some point here, and outside of the community and they were able to get them.
That protoncharger guy keeps slamming hole in the ground and its not right. I read all the threads of him attacking his pack making abilities. Honestly if you hate it so much why don’t you go make your own and start your own business instead of being a troll. Rag on people like a woman cause your clearly jealous. Im gonna buy a pack from him just because of your attitude towards him.

I was unaware he was banned. I was just talking trash cause I thought that would ■■■■ him off hahaha. Im fairly new here so im trying to catch up on some info on vendors and what not.
