I don’t know where it came from, but it is official.
It is slaped on everything that comes out now.
My wallet, stay puft, a few shirts, wristband, and I believe even Egon all had the 25th logo on them somewhere

First of all, I think it’s an odd choice to alter the original logo so that it forms 2 and 5 with its hands.
Certainly because the original logo has four fingers on each hand, not five.
It just looks odd. It’s like giving five fingers to Mickey Mouse.
Also, isn’t the forming ‘numbers with fingers’ routine getting old? Haven’t we seen it enough already?
(I know, I’m partly responsible for that, but that was seven years ago! 
)
At last but not least, if you do choose to milk the ‘numbers with fingers’ gimmick and you decide to Photoshop it on the original logo, please don’t erase parts of that original logo. Fans will notice.
In the end, the 25th anniversary logo reminds me a lot of this:
