As a relative newbie to all of this do the actors appear at conventions worldwide as it would be cool to meet the guys?
Only one Ive ever heard of doing the rounds is Ernie Hudson who is a thoroughly nice chap. He came to the UK last year Cliff as you should know. Afterall you currently have my PP that he signed at your place - lol.
A group of us met Ernie Hudson at Dragoncon in Atlanta a few years back. One hell of a nice guy. Gave me his e-mail addy and everything he signed for me was free. He even wanted US to sign the pic posted below for him to hang in his office. So we did.
sub note:
How many Cliffs are on this board. My name is Cliff as well!!!

Oh… erm…
Nevermind…
Ernie is the only one known to be much of a convention runner, and all reports I’ve read or heard suggest he’s a great guy and really appreciative of the fanbase/franchise.
Yeah Phil know about Ernie
Guyver - what a great name you have and that’s an awesome picture mate.
Just wondering if Dan, Harold and Bill ever appear and whether I need to start planning a trip stateside to see them?
HA! Like Bill would ever go to a con… He’d kill himself before appearing at one of those I bet. He’s never cared about the fans of Ghostbusters or quite possibly, about Ghostbusters itself. So yeah, dont hold your breath for Bill. Harold and Dan… thats a tough call, to my knowledge, they never have before, but I dunno, its more possible than Bill, they’re just really busy.
The “Ghostbusters” actors doing appearances? Let me think…
Bill Murray: No way. I think it’s a bit much to say he never cared about Ghostbusters, but the man hasn’t done a “traditional” comedy film in nearly 10 years. He’s quite the serious actor now. I recall reading that Murray did “Ghostbusters II” only because he was such good pals with Dan Aykroyd and that he staunchly refused to be part of “Ghostbusters III”. With the exception of movie premiers, seeing Bill Murray in public is a rare sight indeed.
Dan Aykroyd: Mr. Aykroyd obviously cares about the Ghostbusters fanbase but his status as a superstar probably keeps him from making too many public appearances. If he was going to appear at something it would be a bit classier than a comicon, I would imagine.
Harold Ramis: Probably not. Mostly works behind the camera these days, anyway. Besides, he’s gained a LOT of weight and hardly resembles lanky Egon anymore.
Ernie Hudson: See above posts. Need I say more?
That’s my 2 cents…
There used to be a ghosthead by the name of Chris Gates who lived in Monterey, CA, and he used to see Bill every year at the celebrity golf tournament at Pebble Beach. So he does (or used to) get out and about occasionally. This was about 7 or 8 years ago, though, before Bill’s ‘rebirth’.
So if you want to see Bill, try getting a membership in a ritzy gold club ![]()
Well the reason I say he never cared about it is because apparently, the only reasons he did Ghostbusters were because A: He was good friends with Harold Ramis and Dan Aykroyd and B: It was part of a contract with Columbia to star in some other flick that the name of which escapes me.
