OK, too late for this Halloween, but I started building a pack about 2 weeks ago, got some of the basics “roughed out” but I am still at a loss as to what an ALICE Pack is…please be nice (my first pack). So I have yet to attach my basic pack to anything. Can someone tell me where I can get an ALICE pack and maybe any tips for attaching it to my pack. Would appreciate any help. Got a year to work on it, so I’m takin it slow. Thanks.
Well so your not confused its actually an Alice frame… its a frame with shoulder straps and belt that attatches to you. Its used to carry a pack, bag or sack which ever you want to call it… thats the actual Alice pack. Its suppose to take the strain off your back, keep you comfortable while carrying heavy stuff. Its a military item that you can find on ebay and in army surplus stores. I would recommend ebay myself cuz they’ll be cheaper you just have to make sure it comes with shoulder straps kidney pad and belt (thats the whole set up needed) And the model is the LC-2 which is load carrying 2 meaning the weight level it can carry. Most of the alice frames you’ll find on ebay are lc-2 but just to make sure look the picture over against an actual lc-2 frame. They usually go for around 20 bucks give or take a little. where if you buy them at a surplus store you can pay from 30 to 70 and that might not include the straps belt or pad. There are no sizes for the lc-2 frame, so if you see large medium or small they mean the actual pack or bag. and becareful to read everything because the pictures can sometimes show a pack and frame but the auction will only be for the pack. Hey man, thanks for the help! I’m not deluding myself and thinking I can have this setup ready for this year. But, my girlfriend’s kids have seen what I am doing, and now it looks like I might need to build 3 for next year! Thanks to Faceofthejester for the quick reply, this should give me time to get everything I need for next year.
oops sorry didn’t explain that lol you don’t need the pack just frame straps belt and pad the frame itself will always be the same size as long as its lc-2 the pack or bag doesn’t matter because its not used you don’t even need to have one for the frame your purchessing. Then the frame itself gets attched to the mother board.
