Well as I said before, I don’t disagree with you. I don’t like the idea of a female Ghostbuster… I was just pointing out films where the female leads were actually pretty bad ass.
I know real I was just jokin around. It fits with a lot of those movies but Dan is right it will be cliche and seemed forced. Oh well. Lets hope they find a chick who can pull it off
I think Abby Elliott would be able to pull off the “girl ghostbuster” role really well. She is funny and cute and, I think, a lot funnier than Amy Poehler and Anna Faris.
Too bad Molly Shannon’s a bit aged now…if they’d made GB3 ten years ago, I’d have suggested her.
I’m all for an interesting female ghostbuster (and emphasis on INTERESTING, boys: not ‘hot’ or ‘sexy’). Someone who could actually pull off the comedy and intelligence that the other men do. Just as long as she doesn’t turn out to be eye candy or that weird combination of being a supposed ‘badass’ who obviously cannot do a damn thing for herself. Go for Signourney Weaver; if Venkman really is dead, she can take his place.
Miley Cyrus if she falls off a building in the first ten minutes.
I have seen more decent female Ghostbusters. All are awe about that They have not actually decent, Yes you are right that Some female were done really nice comedy in the industry than man. But Ghostbusters female had not taken good place in the public place.
What I like about Amy is how age appropriate I find her for the part, amongst other things.
One of my biggest fears about a third movie would be watching some young 20-somethings dressed up for the job and not the deflated, early 30s looking personel we had from the first two films. Jonah Hill and Mike Sera need not apply, in my book.
Amy Meredith Poehler is an American comedian, actress and voice actress. She was a cast member on the NBC television entertainment show Saturday Night Live from 2001 to 2008.
Amy Poehler grew up in Burlington, Massachusetts with parents Eileen and William Poehler, both schoolteachers. At Boston College, the petite (5-foot 2-inch) Poehler became a member of the college’s improvisational comedy troupe, My Mother’s Fleabag.
After graduation, she moved to Chicago in 1993 to pursue a professional career in comedy, joining the comedy theaters ImprovOlympics and Second City, which have produced famous alumni including Stephen Colbert, Chris Farley, Mike Myers and Tina Fey. Poehler and Fey, who would later become famous together on Saturday Night Live (SNL), met each other through an improv group called Inside Vladimir, which someone had named after an adult video found at a local convenience store. “I believe there was some kind of Russian theme, but the story was lost on me very quickly,” Poehler recalled. The two became friends immediately.
Poehler soon became part of a comedic troupe called the Upright Citizens’ Brigade, a spin-off of ImprovOlympics. In 1996, she and her fellow comics moved UCB to New York City, where the troupe scored regular gigs on The Conan O’Brien Show and, later, a show of its own on Comedy Central in 1998. After a few years in New York, Poehler got her big break when she was hired as a featured performer on Saturday Night Live.
I like Amy Poehler in Parks & Rec, but its not a fit for GB. I also really like Ellen Page (not in Juno, I just can’t get into Juno), but I’m going to say it: she’s too small to be a Ghostbuster.
I’m all for diversity, and let’s face it, if the third film goes the way Dan wanted it, they’ll be several flavors of GBs running around. However, a girl just seems to be the likely addition to make to this new team and if it’s a woman, I want it to be a woman who looks like she could be a Ghostbuster.
I’m not talking about attitude or sex appeal, I’m just saying she can’t weigh less than the proton pack she’s carrying.
And in all honesty, I’d rather them hire a good casting team and find a quality character actress. Hire one or two good comedians that are well known enough to draw in ticket sales, plus someone for the inevitable Oscar, and then a solid actress for the meaty story/dialogue needs.
