Live in Savannah, GA for 4 four years. Needless to say I saw some weirdness.
The one I remember best was an old house a few blocks from the dorm I lived in (which was also supposed to be haunted). In the last 10 years or so every run down house in Savannah started being bought up, and rehabbed, so it was odd to see a house that was still run down, or at least not being worked on. And it was a cool looking, classic house, and being an architecture major, I payed special attention to it when I walked by, usually to the art supply store at the corner near it. So one night I ran out of a special paper I needed for a project, so I took a walk to the art store. And while walking past said building I saw through the second story window, what looked like flash lights being shined on the wall, but almost without a source. I don’t want to say orbs, because it didn’t look like that, just lights. In my tired, overworked stupor I dismissed the lights as probably construction workers or something.
A few months later a few friends come to visit, and of course want to take the ghost tour, in a hearse nonetheless. So as were walking to the tour pick-up spot I was telling them about the house, and how creepy it looked, and what I saw. That laughed and said I was drunk or something. So about half-way through the tour, we turn onto the street my old dorm, and this house are on and sure enough, we stop right in front of this house. The guide goes on to tell us that the house in reported to be haunted, and that
it was the home of doctor and his family.
The doctor’s family died during a yellow fever epidemic, and the doctor in his grief walled himself into a room on the second floor and starved to death. I was kind of skeptical of this, but what the guide told me next kind of freaked me out. He told everyone to go look through the glass in the front door, and tell him if they saw a staircase. Of course 80% of them said they did, I didn’t, and of course he went on to tell us there isn’t a staircase there, it was taken out and sold 20 years ago. So there is no way to the second floor. Wait, what?
He went on to say that the reason the house has never been rehabbed, its because its filled with asbestos! to even go into the house, you need to be in full protection suits, and that the elderly owner has stopped people from even going in there for the last 5 years for fear of vandalism/theft./liability. I was floored. What did I see? So after the tour I stopped and told the tour guide what I saw. He tells me that a few years ago a tour guest took a picture of the front door, and caught something, and he would e-mail it to me if I wanted. I have that picture, but need to find it in my old HD. When I do, I’ll post it. Savannah is a WEIRD place.
