Arizona Ghostbusters @ Phoenix Cactus ComiCon 2008 Pics

This last weekend was the Phoenix Cactus ComiCon. The event had double or more the attendance of last years con. We had a pretty busy Friday night. Our main event of the evening was the zombie survival panel we hosted. Several videos were made and I will post them up as soon as I get them. Our pics turned out very dark but hopefully the video should be great. Despite some technicaly difficulties the panel went great and it was alot of fun. We got some questions about zombies I never would have expected to hear. I tried to put as much humor and movie references in it as possible people would enjoy. We pulled out quite a few GB lines. Some were received well, a few went over people’s heads which I expected. The room seated 100 and I made that many of the GBI zombie pamphlets and we ran out because people were standing along the walls of the room as well.

After the panel was the zombie beauty pagent. I should also have video and alot of pics coming from that event. We hung out in the crowd and passed out twinkies and marshmallows to the crowd during an intermission and passed around bags for the audience votes. All of the girls in the pagent were great and they were very enthusiastic.

Saturday afternoon we set up a booth outside next to the registration to give people information on us and to raise money for our next charity walk for the American Heart Association. I haven’t gotten the total yet on what we collected. We got alot of interest from possible new recruits and hopefully we can get them signed up with us. Our recruitment flyer was popular and I’ll put scans up of it later. Sunday we hung out in the dealers hall mainly and the masquerade. We donated one of our shirts as a prize for the grand winner.

Certainly one of the highlights of the con was seeing so many GB shirts the attendees were wearing. Alot of people were talking about the upcoming game.

It was our official one year anniversary and the whole team is proud of how far and how much we’ve done.

Again I’ll be updating with more pics and video as I get them.

Here’s a view from the back of the zombie panel room as we were setting up. You can barely see me and Matt up there. We were laying out our visual display of zombie fighting weapons.

We’re in the first minute or so. The guy takes a stroll around the hall so you can see what it looked like. This was towards the end of the day Sunday. Didn’t watch the whole thing yet.

Got a few more pics.

The first couple are with one of our hopeful new recruits, the top pic was Friday night. Saturday afternoon he brought his jumpsuit from when he was a kid to show us he was serious.

Matt gives a great BS explanation of how ghostbusting works. After all none of us are doctors or proton mechanics.

Glad you liked that justis.

Been doing a search on stuff from the convention that is finally popping up online.

Just found this article today, got a brief mention and photo of us walking up. Most of the photos I’ve been finding of us, we’re completely oblivous. The best kind right?

Got a nod in a blog from a photographer at the con, a great pic of Matt H at a coke machine.

They got the best photos from the con, mainly great ones of the zombie beauty pagent.

This is pretty cool, I can’t wait until I get my uniform finished. I especially like how he leans into the little mic that the puppet is holding…
