well I finally got around to taking some snaps of my Custom Ray 1/6 scale figure. I had to start with Ray because hes THE HEART of the ghostbusters. Hes about 75% done, I just need to finish his circuit board, trap pedal, and elbow pads then hes good. The gear is mostly movie accurate though I had to take one or two liberties with the pack due to casting problems (mainly the gear box) and the trap is a bit oversized. The pack, gun, and trap were sculpted by me then cast in resin (I’m gonna go for the whole crew so I’ve made multiple copies). This also means if anyone has an interest I will be selling them. I also made all the proper labels too, using sticker paper and adobe illustrator since the program can scale and image to any size with no pixelation, these sheets also come with the parts for anyone who wants them. The belt is a custom by me, as well as the key ring which is made from real leather. I gave the gun and the trap proper mounting systems using tin. The trap cartridge slides out like in the movie and is held in place with a flat magnet. The trap holder is leather and the strap connects to the back via a loop and hook system. The holster isn’t on the belt yet because I want to get the board on there first and I don’t want to risk taking the paint off the belt (from sliding things on and off to much) . The ecto goggles are modified NVG’s, and the hose is a phone cable pulled in half, had the wire removed, then dyed yellow. He has 2 sets of hands, one with black gloves to grip the proton gun, and normal hands with flex fingers. That way he can point when he says "were ready to believe you ;). the logo and tag are also stickers. I guess I’m done ranting about how I went though with this so now on to the pictures!
very shagadellic!!! He needs some hands : P
fantastic! really good job and love how neat you painted it all!
10/10 ![]()
hEY, BEAUTIFULL, where did you get the head man, he looks just like the real RAY from the movies!!! Now, tell me the truth, you do play with it once in a while don’t you??? I wish we could team up. I’m doing venkman!!!
Hope you can help me with my build!
Sal
how did you do the hose connector?? Could you post a close up of that??
saL
the head is from ebay, a guy sells them for about 20 bucks each, hes got Ray Peter and Egon. I would link you to one but I cant seem to find any up, just keep a look out on ebay. Search for custom 1/6 head. Heres what all 3 look like
The glasses I made myself. As for the hose to the gun its actually a boot lace that I dyed black and super glued to both ends. Its the same lace I used for the hose to the gear box. Ill be glad to help you in anyway with your figure, if you need parts or anything just PM and Ill see what I can come up with!
Hey Astro, what do you plan to use as the circuit board¿?
Sal
i just made it tonight, I rolled out epoxy putty and cut it into shape, Then I printed a circuit board and stuck that too it, put some orange dots on it and glued a bunch of glass beads at the top haha. Its not too movie accurate but it gets the job done. Then I cut the wire off a walki talki I had to make the coil. Ill put a pic up tomorrow probably since i did his elbow pads too.
Any pics of your progress Astro? Your figure looks awsome. I like the painting job.
SAl
I took down the WIP’s becuase heres the finished Dr. for you all
Well while the figure is finished hes still got one last step. I’m making him a stand that has a black base with the logo on top of a splat of green slime. The front is going to say “RAY STANTZ” in green drippy slime letters I’m making. I plan on doing a base for each.
I know his gear isn’t 100% movie accurate (especially things like the circuit board) It was kind of me having to make the choice of how much was TOO much in terms of detail. given my small budget and lack of tools some corners had to be cut, but over all I think it gets the job done ![]()
Comments/criticisms would be nice ![]()
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH man, the waiting payed off man, Looks terrific. Even if it´s not 100% accurate, i gotta tell you that you could win a contest with that..
How did you do the belt clip??? i mean the key holder . Looks exactly like in the movie.
I can´t wait to get started on mine .
You could make your stand with a broken floor , and you could print a pic of the Shandor Building and put it on the back.
The slime idea is great also, to put the name with dripping goo like you suggested.
Man, I love how it turned out. Who´s next? Egon or Pete?
Congrats
Now that i´m at home, looking at it, he needs a litle belly. hehehe. Ray´s been working out!!! ![]()
Hey astro, any news on the next ghostbuster?
wow, nice stuff
next is egon ![]()
i just got back from my 2 and half weeks of marines stuff in SC so sorry for the gap in post lol
very nice job! My Ray was one of the Misfits rock band figures. I cut off the dark circles under his eyes, and removed the long point from his widows peak. so, my Ray is VERY buff LOL! My Egon is a Dragon German soldier with cotton and Latex hair, my Peter is a Dragon with a Peter headsculpt, and Winston is a Tuskegee airman G.I.Joe. Not accurate, but they were fun to make.
HAHAHA you took apart Jerry only!? I love the misfits lol. You should post some pictures, I would love to see it!
Im gonna spruce mine up a bit with nick-a-trons proton pack since its a more movie accurate, Im going to put my build on ebay. I think Im also going to redo the trap too when I get around too it. Other than that Im very happy with how he turned out.
Well hes nearly there. All he needs is a trap which Im waiting for Nick-a-trons kit. His pack just worked wonders on the figure and just added a real professional look to the figure. Hope you guys like it!
Wow…that is fantastic! Great detail Astro. Well done.
WOW ASTRO, you even did the legris elbows!!! That´s incredible!!! You´ll have ot let me know how did you add all the details.
Lokks amazing Astro, simply amazing.
