I know I’m going to get a lot of ■■■■ for this, but here it goes…
I was just reading about the latest gossip concerning Mr. Murray’s feelings about GB3 and it makes me wonder why people still act like Murray is god’s gift to Ghostbusting. He’s like William Shatner is about Star Trek. Why should he even be included in the new movie if he doesn’t even care? I’m sorry that you didn’t like the way GB2 came out Bill, but let it go and let us have GB3! I’m not a Bill Murray hater. I love most of his movies. It’s just upsetting to see a movie get delayed partly because someone who can’t get over themselves. I know he’s not completely to blame for the delay, but I’m sure he has a little to do with it. I say forget Bill and let Winston have all the funny lines they would’ve given to Venkman. I’m sorry to all the Venkman fans I’m going to upset, but I’m Ray’s girl and I feel Bill should thank Mr. Aykroyd for letting him be involved. Let’s not forget he wasn’t the first choice for Venkman.
Personally, I was thinking the same thing, If that story is true. Just buy out the ■■■■■ rights and be done with him. The videos that get released make murray seem cool, but the stories about him and his personal life make him turn out like a real ass
If were refering to the enquirer article, I believe it. He wont answer anyones calls (im guessing thats people working on the movie ) Dan tells him to stop acting like a ■■■■. Is he a drunk or depressed, or does he just hate ghostbusters and Dan and Harold? Id leave him out of GB3 if he keeps “acting like a ■■■■”. We all see how Dan and Ernie treat the fans of the movie. There is a big difference there compared to Bill.
Regardless what the final outcome is of the long-gestating “GB3” [aside from them scrapping it for a complete remake, or continuing to hold tight to the “Ghost Venkman” idea], I will always crack a smile that Dan [supposedly] called Bill to call him a “jerk” for being a “wrench-in-the-gears” :lol: …
If the movie’s horrible [and I have every reason to believe it will be], IF it ever sees the the proverbial “green light”, I can always ignore it like I’ve done with IDW’s “The Other Side”…
Perfectly content with the two existing movies, video game [though I’d STILL kill for some NEW DLC], cartoons, books, and comics…
wait a moment! If the script is due in May..how in the hell would Bill have already readed it?? (sorry for my english)
And if you remember…Reitman said back in January that he met Bill for a quick chat about the script, so i think that they are including Bill suggestions in the second draft.
Maybe he has the first copy. And maybe the producers are tring to call him to ask him his oppinion on certain things that were due to change. the article said the producers want to get ahold of him but he;s not answering the calls.
And if GB3 came out, and it sucks, we’ll all be going “Why didn’t Bill use his veto powers to keep this ■■■■ from being made?”
It’s kind of a double edged sword.
Now suppose Bill grants them the rights to do it without him? In-story it’d make a lot of sense (“After the Vigo thing he wasn’t going to let Dana get away a second time. They’ve been happily married and living in Hollywood for the last twenty years…”) but, of course, it’d be a lot trickier to pull off.
Think of all the whining when Rick Moranis passed on the video game, and he wasn’t even playing an important character to the franchise. Try and do the movie without it’s biggest star, and one of the four (or five…) central characters, and a hell of a lot of more casual fans and the general moviegoers might be saying “Bill Murray passed on it; so it probably sucks with teeth, so I ain’t gonna spend my money on it.”
Worse, Murray passes on it and it’s made with some overhyped “hot” name (Propose your own list; I’m not gonna throw that much flame bait out) to try and balance Murray absence “name-wise”. Yeah, maybe more causual moviegoers will go, but chances are increased the movie will suck and alienate all the longtime fans.
I’m personally still in the corner which says “Don’t do GB3 without Murray, but don’t do it if he’s gonna half-ass it again either.” If it means no GB3, I can more than live with that.
Personally, I love the ghost Venkman idea. It shows the characters WILL get old and eventually die, and help sell the idea that new ghostbusters are eventually GOING To be needed.
Although I do find it ironic that for the man that doesn’t like effects scenes, he’d be doing nothing BUT effects scenes. Probably all alone in a blue screen room.
here’s how I picture the movie opening. A bust goes wrong. Probably with a strong demon or something. Murray goes down for the count. On the way to the hospital in the ambulance, he passes. While the guys are greiving, his ghost instantly pops up next too them scaring the ■■■■ out of everyone. Cue ghostbusters logo…
My two cents : Murray is just fed up that everyone is asking him about GB3, which is not his core thing. It’s Ramis’ and Aycroyd’s. So he just replied something stupid to have the people off hisback… But actually got the opposite !
I don’t think he doesn’t care about Ghostbusters. Didn’t he made the voice talent for the game, not so long ago ? But he’s been the most prolific actor of them four; None other from the cast have been in so many movies, some of them even being famous ones. GB is just another project for him, and he’ll start being interested once the stuff will be greenlighted and the script readed.
Can’t blame him.
As far as I am concerned, I don’t believe we will have a ghost venkman. Maybe he’ll shorten his role, maybe ?
Murray is asked about Ghostbusters at every turn he takes, probably has been for quite some time now. We know he’s open to the idea, and said several times when asked that it was dependent on the script. He’s said he wasn’t gonna make one just to make one, and it certainly would be in his best interest to make one so people can get off his back about it. So if he holds out I’m going to assume the script is garbage. He was already coaxed into doing one Ghostbusters sequel that he wasn’t happy with, why would he do another?
I for one am grateful that Murray has the power he does. He’s the only thing standing in Sony’s way of putting out a horrible movie for an easy buck. Because Sony knows Ghostbusters 3 is gonna be a huge box office draw regardless of any reviews it may get. They don’t care about respecting the franchise, they’re just in for the money. If they really want to make GB3 then they better get a script written that wows him. I’d love to see it done if it was done right, but if it’s not done right I’d rather it not happen at all. And by done right that means the complete original cast in starring roles. If one of them isn’t there I don’t want to see it. If they’re all there, but reduced to glorified cameos as a new team takes over I don’t want to see it. I already watched Extreme Ghostbusters and I hated it.
one of the reasons I don’t care to see a younger group of recruits, I’d like to if they do it, make this the last one. Other than of course everyone wanting to see the guys handle it themselves and not new recruits, I don’t want it to turn into one of those movie with “too many people” if that makes any sense.
