You can never go wrong with regular ole’ epoxy glues, maybe even especially “Plastic Weld”, specifically made for plastic but still an epoxy glue. Maybe even wood glue if you sand the styrene well enough. Rough surfaces will take any glue really. Good luck!
They foam and bubble out from the seams, you will need to sand and clean the area around any glue point… And it’s always a good idea to clamp or secure the part being glued so it doesn’t move, as this type of glue will seperate the seams while it’s expanding…
Also a good idea on these polyurethane glues is to cover the area with a wet rag or towel as they feed on humidity while drying… When using on wood it’s also a good idea to take a wet rag and wet the wood prior to putting the glue on…
But, void of the foaming and expanding issues it’s a damn tough glue!
Gorilla glue is seriously the strongest glue on earth!!! It does expand but if you use masking tape to secure it down you’ll be fine. You don’t need to use much of it. Also once it dries its easy to cut off the little bubbles. I’m going on my third bottle of the stuff. It’s stronger than epoxy, things tend to pop off easier with epoxy. It’s a little pricey, so hit up walmart and get the bigger bottle. Don’t get the little one because you might run out. I’ve been using it for years it really is great.
yeah gorrila glue is the best very strong. Only whatch it when drying it expands alot and bubbles up. when it bubbles up push the seems together tight so you get a nice clean space. I also let the glue dry and if you have one a DREMEL it is a tool that is great to work with it comes with all different attachments. Get the small round sander that works with it and u could sand the glue down it works great. here is a picture of the tool
Thanks for the advice guys… i’ll hold fire on building some of the stuff i was gonna do this weekend till i can see if i can get gorilla glue over here in the UK.
So picked up some Gorilla glue yesterday (who knew one of the few stockists in Surrey was almost on my doorstep (well, a 2 mile walk away, but i need the exercise).
…
Has anyone been able to pull two things attached together with this stuff apart?
I mean, really.
I stuck two pieces of blue foam together. It did not dissolve it into mush as I worried it might… and those SOB’s are solid. I stuck a spare piece of clear styrene on top of that for good measure.
I now have a small piece of interpretive modern art… but it’s a small piece that ain’t goin NOWHERE.
So how much abuse have people managed to give stuff made with this?
