Bought this kit off of ebay

Lacking the tools (not the talent, as I know how to work my way around a blade saw and what not) to fully build my own pack, I decided to buy this kit. Looks reputable, and I think the blank slate looks gives me enough room to really use what I have if I wanted to turn the thing into either a MKII or MKIII or even an RGB influenced pack.

Can’t wait to work on it when it gets here!

I have a few problems with it… For the price its great, and the basic shape would allow you to fix the few problems easily. the booster frame needs to be changed right away for a resin cast one. Something is really wrong with the gun mount also, but overall it looks like its going to be a great start to an awesome pack

I dunno. I tend to disagree with that statement. Would be a nice starting point though.

Not to be a d*ck, but is it too late to cancel?

For that price you can get the tools. and some wood and make a better one yourself.

Unless I wanted to get a negative review, then no, it’s not too late to cancel.

Go with the negative review in my opinion. I honestly don’t know what “GBFans Plans” he followed but they certainly weren’t off this site. I just see this causing more problems for you then good. I mean if you absolutely need something almost built due to tool issues and are looking low cost, I would check out studio creations vacuum formed shells. While a little soft on some details, they are still miles ahead of this one. Just trying to help you out

I thought sellers couldn’t leave negative feedback for buyers on eBay now? Or maybe backing out of a won auction would be a special case to allow this?

The seller could give him a No Paying Bidder Strike and that will not amount to anything if I was CJay I would definitely back out.

I tell you what. I’m going to give CJay the benefit of the doubt here. CJay - I have faith that you can take this thing and turn it into a great proton pack. I know what it feels like sometimes to be excited about getting something and then people go “Oh … you got that? Did you keep the receipt?”

So make us proud! Turn that thing around and build something amazing out of it!

I think it would take more work to turn that pack around into a more accurate one then to build it up properly yourself.

If you like how it looks (the basic shapes and parts are there) then be happy with the purchase. Our packs are also no where near as accurate as they could be, but we’ve been content with our packs for the last year or so.

That said, we also HAVE been wanting to build two more accurate replacement packs for more then a year now.. we’ve been waiting on Sys’s arduino light and sound options.

Has it been more then a year now? Yikes!

cj, now you know why my pack build thread’s on spwt huh?

If you implying were giving him a hard time about the purchase its not the case. Just saying there are better, cheaper alternatives to that giant hunk of inaccurate mess he purchased, frankly.

I think looking out for new people with Gb prop interest, and trying to help them avoid a lot of issues is a GOOD thing.

I’m no “prop snob” at ALL…our packs are FAR from accurate.. BUT having built packs, traps, and gizmos now, I do have an eye for what it an easy fix, and what is a money pit. There are many threads here, where people thought they scored a deal, and that “deal” is sitting in a corner somewhere now, while they work on a replacement they ended up having to buy.

I dislike someone spending a pile of money on something they might end up having to replace, and I also really dislike the implication that I am raining on someone’s parade here, when in fact, I am trying to save them time, headaches, and or money.

Go take your gloomy Gus attitude elsewhere. At least I was PROUD to be representing the Ghostbuster fanbase at Megacon wearing our gear… you, OTOH chose something completely different to represent.

Way to support the GB fanbase, PC!

Not meaning to cause a fight by opening old wounds or anything, that wasn’t my intent when starting this thread.

I appreciate the feedback regarding the pack. Studying it on a superficial level, there are some details that need tweaking when I compared it to Norm and Stefan’s plans, which probably won’t be as much of a nightmare as I think. The gun mount will be the killer, because I could never find any proper plans for how to build that but I’ll cross that bridge when I get to it.

Garee…I’m such a stubborn fellow that, for you, I’ll finish working on this pack and buck the trend ofo those who just let it collect dust in the corner hehehe.

QFT

um getting off topic here, so let’s move back.

it seems like this will require a lot of work and money to make it look more like a pack…

I just want to know where on gbfans he found plans for this.

What you do with your time and money is up to you, even if it is counterproductive.

On their site, they seem to be using Stephan’s plans. At least for the mother board. As for everything else, I cannot believe the feedback they have posted is genuine.. I’d back out from this, far, far away.. More work to correct this than to make one from scratch..
