hi im looking to build a proton pack, iv had a look at some of the equipment drawings and really like stefan’s plans, would these be a good one to use for a first time prop builder or is there anymore that would be eaiser to follow, im looking to be spending around 500 pounds or 1000 dollars or subsequiently i would pay anyone who would be willing to build one, any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you
Hello Venkman08.
If you’re really up to it, building a pack is a fun experience.
Stefan’s plans are great. the best in my opinion. There’s also Norm’s plans. Scratchbuilder generally use MDF and/or wood following one of those set of plans. I personally opted for a fiverglass shell as the end result really weights a lot less. You might want to consider this option: it would be faster to build and remain very accurate to the plans you’re looking at.
Whatever option you end up doing, those plans are good for a first time builder (or even someone who built a pack before)
There are a lot of resources within these forums, especially when it comes to finding good parts. Also look at everyone’s work log, seeing what’s being done helps as well.
hope the info helps.
thanks for a speedy and helpfull reply, yeh i’m leaning towards using a fiberglass shell, it seems like the best starting option for me, how much did your pack end up costing all together if you dont mind me asking? thanks!
My pack isn’t complete yet, I’m still working on it.
