I liked Coulier as an actor and as an impressionist, but when he took over as Venkman, the character itself went down hill! Granted, Coulier wasn’t a writer, but the voice wasn’t the same, he tried too hard to push the Murray voice and it was a huge fail to me! Also I didn’t like how the character was changing from the way it was in the first few seasons! It’s like when Lorenzo left the show, they started to change the way the Venkman character was. So, Dave Coulier, good actor! Good enough to play Venkman? In my opinion, no!
I hope someone does a new RGB series/game and that Straczynski is the head writer. His work was the best the first few seasons and the last season when he was brought back. I just hope if someone does decide to do something they get him onboard ASAP.
In The Great Debate of Music/Coulier, I grew up with both of them and yes Lorenzo was the better of the two, but Coulier worked with what was bestowed upon him. I don’t blame him for how the scripts were or how he was supposed to present the good doctor, but for all intense & purposes, we did get a few more seasons out of the beloved characters we hold dear.
I was saddened to learn years later that Lorenzo was dropped due to sounding like Garfield which is irrelevant. He is the voice of Peter Venkman to me and I know the majority of you.
Sigh…I miss the good ol’ days…

Just Dave Coulier. As far as we know, the other changes to the show (Dumbing down the scripts, lobotomizing Janine, retooling the show as a vehicle for Slimer) were all from network “experts”. Murray didn’t have anything to do with those.
