Chance of a new RGB videogame since it'll air on FearNet?

I know it’s unlikely, but a guy can dream. All the old cast members voicing the guys, being able to bust heads like Boogieman, Sam Hain, Grundel, etc, would really make me happy.

I’d rather cut off my arms than hear Dave Coulier voice Peter.

Seriously though, dear god no.

THANK YOU!!! … lol TOTALLY agreed

Yea, it sucked when he took over for Lorenzo music!

With the popularity of He-Man, Garbagepail Kids, Popples, and Dino Riders video games, it’s only a matter of time!!

Ok, that is a valid criticism. What if they found a soundalike to Lorenzo Music instead of going to Dave Coulier?

They did…Frank Welker. Which admittedly wouldn’t be a bad thing. Frank is now the voice of Garfield. He’s not bad. It’s pretty close.

I don’t think they will make a RGB game, however if they do I would definitely buy it if the original cast came back with the ORIGINAL writers, and it was a download only game. I mean I love the real Ghostbusters but I just don’t think I’m willing to pay 60 bucks for an adventure.

as long as its something like the game from a couple years ago or GTA but for kids - and not made by Telltale games.

I’m so glad I’m not the only one who despises him. And for the love of Peter don’t make slimer and peter have that gay ass (no offense to anyone who might be gay) relationship like they did from season 2 and on

Joeghostbuster, I’m guessing by GTA style you mean free-roaming? That’s my current dream Ghostbuster game. Tho I also would like a loot system ala Diablo or for a more recent example Borderlands where slime or artifacts will grant new upgrades for your gear or flight suit.

Man, I’ve never understood all this Dave Coulier hate. Yes, of course Lorenzo Music was way better, but Dave Coulier is still pretty good. The reason that Venkman (and the show in general) started to suck was because of the writers and creative executives. It’s not Dave’s fault that he was given such hammy one-liners and ■■■■. I mean, maybe he had the discretion to tone down the hamminess of the delivery, but who knows, maybe it was the voice director making him over-do it. The point is, I don’t think there is inherently anything wrong with his basic Venkman voice. Under the right direction, he is just fine IMO. I’m open to replacements if someone could do a convincing Lorenzo Music knock-off, but I wish people would stop making Dave Coulier into a scapegoat…

I think the reason most people don’t like him is because he’s not lorenzo music and that he’s trying too hard to sound like Bill Murray. As someone here has stated, and most will agree, the venkman voice is essentially just a really bad Carl Spackler impression. I will admit that when I was growing up the reruns they showed primarily featured Dave as Venkman, so that was what I was use to. When I got older and bought my first copy of RGB on dvd I thought Venkman sounded off because I wasn’t use to the original voice. But the other folks grew up with Lorenzo Music voicing peter, when someone gets replaced for any reason fans won’t like it (I remember being irritated when Maude Flanders’ voice was replaced, but then they fixed that problem).

This makes me giggle more than it should.

I get what you’re saying though. A free-roaming, mission-based Ghostbuster game could possibly work.

The firehouse sets you up with missions, you take the missions you want and the outcome of those missions progress the story. You make money from the missions you complete successfully and you can purchase equipment upgrades, health, etc. And as long as you don’t have to keep taking calls from your cousin who constantly wants to go see a movie or get drunk, the social elements from GTA could also work.

Oh, and you can fire your proton stream into a crowded subway just because.

“WEEEEEEEE!!! IMMA MAKIN’ MORE GHOSTS!”

yes, I didnt think I had to specify, but I meant an open world sandbox style game where you have free roam capabilities, can enter buildings etc obviously I did not mean ghostbusters with guns and hookers

An open sandbox style GB game would be nice. I was thinking a GB game could also include some RPG elements to it. Say you have the option of playing with the originals or starting your own franchise where you can hire or fire people and each person has a different skill set that can be built up.

The DS version almost had it, if it weren’t for the horrid controls and limits of the handheld device.

MY. GOD!

I just saw a Garfield cartoon with him as the voice. It wasn’t bad. The cartoon, not the voice. Anyway, the voice is… interesting. Close is the word you used, but it’s not quite right either. He’s definitly got Music’s voice pattern down but it’s still not quite right.

It was interesting to watch Peter and Ray’s voice fused together. It was almost Freaky Friday kind of weird. Weird! Yes. That’s the word for the voice. Weird.

A good weird, though. Not a bad one.

Well, don’t think it’ll be a new videogame because of it. The IDW comics were wonderful - being an RGB fan since the eighties I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the many references, pure bliss. That’s a bigger hint that maybe there’ll be new RGB material of some sort than FearNet airing the series. Figure I’ll blow a fuse when playing a new RGB game, too old school. Don’t tamper with my boys, I’m telling you. @;8-}

Read an article about Straczynski that was published this week, that he’s interested in implementing his idea for GB3. This reveals he’s into GB/RGB still and If they have him on the team when making an RGB game, I’d be all for it. Hope they don’t rely on some guys who aren’t into the RGBs since it was first aired, because if that game is ever going to be made it takes a dedicated talented crew which knows every aspect of RGB. If that means they implement fandom ideas I’m gonna shoot myself in the head. Just saying.

Oh right, forgot this thread turned into a Music versus Coulier thing. Shan’t speak ill of the dead, but Coulier is a more talented voice actor than Music in my opinion. Surely understand it’s irritating and unwanted that a voice you got used to was changed. Have a different perspective on RGB - as an European I vaccumed whatever voiceovers there was, beginning in the eighties, and got a chance to compare several. Music never felt like Peter, Coulier more so. Will always remember the Murray impersonation he did on Full House, where his character is said to be a voiceover actor. To me it’s obvious he’s more nuanced, while Music was laid back and perfect for Garfield.
