How much control over the ‘look’ of the playable character do you think we will get?
In the screenshots and the game play videos it looks like the character is based on winston, Im hoping you can customise the character head so you can model the player on yourself (so skin, hair and mayb even eye colour)
That way they could give the character a non descript accent (most likely a New York one) but give everything else over to the player.
Also if there is indeed a multiplayer mode (or mayb even in single player/story mode) you could set your flightuit colour from a number of set choices so you can have the version from GBII or RBG if you wanted
I’d like to see some player customization as well, but I doubt it’ll be much if any. I’d don’t know about the character having accents or even voice at all. I think that the player is there, but doesn’t talk or anything. Just gets interacted with. Still it’d be nice to have some freedom to define yourself. At least if nothing else The ability to chose a male or female model since I know there are some Lady Ghostheads out there.
it shouldnt be too hard to put that into the game, male and female skin (they did this in the Voyager Elite Force game) along with a number of user definable options (the skin, hair ect) possibly, voice would be a different issue, most likely they would record a voice track for a male and female…the bit about accents was based on that the game is set in NY so its likely to be American at the least.
There will likely be dialogue for the character otherwise the story becomes a moot point.
I bet there will be a certain degree of cusomization. Probably not to the point of making the character look exactly like you but a general idea.
As for the player having dialogue I doubt it. Many successful games of the past have gotten by without the playable character being able to speak, just look at the Legend of Zelda franchise where Link never has a line. There will most likely be grunts and groans but little else than background noise from the character.
Yes but there have been many other more successfull games (own opinion) such as Metal Gear Solid where the character has dialogue.
Think about it this way, Akroyd and Ramis writing the script, they have said they are treating this as a sort of GBIII…gonna be odd if the main character doesnt have audiable dialogue (please no Final Fantasy style reading everything, I want an MGS theatrical feel)
The game was using the standard characters for the game play. Some scenes had Winston, most had Egon playing. I think this is just a matter of the game not being done that far, and that the Ghostbuster characters were ready to go.
I am sure in the final release you will be able to customize your character.
I don’t own any of the next-gen systems so it has been a while since I’ve bought a new video game. Is it still common to have short movies that break up the gameplay? The kind that are either for loading or exposition purposes.
I don’t think we’ll have to worry about chunky dialogue being written onscreen. In the GameInformer article the creators specifically mentioned the want to avoid those kinds of things.
As regards customisation, the developers should take a leap out of some of the latest PS3 titles…
The latest Pro Evolution soccer game allows you to upload your face onto a player as does the latest Tiger Woods game so maybe that would be nice for customisation.
Also, I recently watched a Documentary on “REAL D” movies (The new 3-D format like Beowolf) Wouldn’t it be great to get a re-release of the original GB movie in this new format. Apparently all new movies from 2010 are going to be shot this way for both a 2-d and 3-D version in the theatre…
P.s - did ye see my autographed pic from Ernie Hudson I received last week..
Well, I haven’t owned a “game system” since my Commodore 64 back in the 80’s (ironic, no?) but, if this game is half as good as the previews, it will be awesome! It will be interesting to see what system it will be on (hopefully more than one) might be neat to whip the wii around. : )
If they use the same character customizing as Rainbowsix Vegas did, with using the Xbox Live Webcam then you’d be able to put your own face on your character. Though, I’m sure they’ll have some prechosen layouts of hairstyles, skin color, and glasses to wear.
I will come in one of the prechosen forms. But if I get sick of the look of my character, I will choose a new form for him. That of a giant slor! Many shlubs and zulus with get roasted in the depths of a slor that day, I can tell you.
I’ve been wanting to get one of those cameras for my Xbox. If I could put my face on a 'buster, it would be worth it.
I saw that the Xbox and PS3 are for “■■■■■■■■■” gamers, and the Wii was listed as “cartoon” or “family version”. What does that mean? I’ll be happy to play it even if it’s a cartoon (it has to be lightyears ahead of the C64 version)
