Create a character

I think im taking the news of the release date changing quite well but I was wondering (sorry if this was already braught up) if they are indeed taking the time to improve the game because I would mostly want create a character mode of some kind. Well at least be allowed modify the face in some way as your suppose to be the 5th buster, not one of the producers. It just dims the experiance ever so slightly with it it not looking like us. But hell ill buy and live off the game for a while no doubt anyways.

What do you guys think?

I think its just gonna be the template thats used in the demo that you’ll play on the PS3/360 versions. As for the Wii/PS2 versions you have your choice of female and male template. Although they are cartoony I’m sure you can’t edit their features either.

Gotta’ say, if I could make my character ME that would rock sugar gravy style.

Exactly! it just seems like they’re missing a big ingredient that would make the game more personal. We want to be ghostbusters lol

i can guarantee (90 %) the won’t do a create a character thing becuase the guy in the game is a canon character so they’ll probably use the template unless they have been hiding the “real” (hypothetical) appearance. so if they use the template thus far then i envy Ryan French for being put in the canon (in appearance). but it would be cool if they offered create a character for multi player.

Multiplayer you get to play as one of the original four. :stuck_out_tongue: Wouldn’t that be better than it being yourself?

Well yes you play them in multiplayer which is awesome as far as im concerned but in single player your not playing one of the original four and your not playing yourself. Its not like they have given him a story to introduce himself and given you something to attach to. Your almost playing a shell that the busters throw orders at… If you could recreate his face to represent you then the personality would automatically come with it and you’ll have your immediate connection with your character.

I dunno I just like to personalise things like in Final Fantasy… I always named the characters and never let them keep their originals haha.

I agree that a create a character would be great. I think thats what made all the WWE wrestling games so fun. A few have been super detailed and I got to make myself and my friends look exactly like they do in real life. Even a toned down one for the GB game would be great. Few face, few hair styles, a few beards etc. Maybe even getting to modify the costume? That would be fun. Picking the color flight suit would be really cool. Give us the standard, the grey GB2 suit, maybe a grey, a green, and brown? We can dream can’t we? lol

I would definitely love it if they allowed you to customize the new recruit so he could look like you. That would be awesome! I’d love seeing myself as a Ghostbuster.

I can’t fully agree with those of you who think having it be the way it seems to be (no customization, just one standard look for the character) ruins the effect a little bit. Personally, I think they are intentionally leaving the character very normal and standard, and not introducing you to him very much (if that is indeed, what happens) so you can think of him as YOU as a Ghostbuster and not as this new character. I think we are meant to live vicariously through the character and imagine as though it is us.

I agree. I don’t play a lot of video games, but I always get the WWE wrestling games. Lately, one of my favorite things to do has been to create my fiance as a wrestler (they can pretty darn close and look almost just like her) and have her beat the crud out of all of the divas. LOL!

Of course, I also like to make myself as well. Well, myself as a character I created, though. Not just myself.

I could live with the character being Joe Generic, but if I got the chance to customize him to look like me, I’d jump on it in a heartbeat. I think everybody that grew up loving the Ghostbusters wanted to be one at least once, and getting the chance to live a childhood fantasy - even in video game form - would be sweet.

Yeah, maybe like the Tony Hawk games. Funnily enough, when I play Tony Hawk, I always try to make the characters look like busters, with goggles, black backpacks, boots, and tan clothes.

I would love a create a character mode for both versions of the game. I’m a 6’6" black guy with a large afro, I don’t really want to play as some random white dude… :whatever: (no offense to anyone) So far to me, that has been the largest turn off for both versions of the game. No matter what I’m going to play these games like there’s no tomorrow, but I just feel like with so much time left before they have to release the game, that it can be done. I also think it would be a very large complement to the fans, to bring many’s fantasy to virtual life.

that would be cool, and on the Wii version, I think it would be feasible, just stick your Mii head on the game character. of course, they won’t do it.

Yes, a customizable character would be great! Maybe, just maybe they’re using the extra time to add it.? Perhaps it’ll be a little surprise announcement when april/may rolls around.

Wishful thinking? Yes.

I would LOVE a customizable character model, and I’d like to think it’s one of the features they’re adding with all this extra time, but I doubt they will. I would be happy with just a few simple tweaks like Vinster said, it doesn’t have to be anything as deep as, say, Fallout 3’s character modeling (although that would be AWESOME!). I do wish they’d add a female buster option, then I can try and convince my girlfriend to play instead of just watching me…

Yeah It would be pretty sweet to have my mug on it, but if we don’t get it, I’ll still be just as happy.

same here

I don’t think there’s anyone here who wouldn’t like this feature. However, we must remember that the new game is official canon, as can be taken as a third movie, so having a variable on who picks up the next proton pack would be confusing.

I wouldn’t want to be Venkman - there’s something about him that seems a LITTLE TINY bit off - I think it’s his teeth - something about his teeth makes him look like a beaver - maybe it’s a little two dark between his front two teeth or something? Only complaint I’ve got.

I don’t think it would be very confusing, if the other Ghostbusters only use nicknames to call the rookie character. For example (Ray: That’s your cue, Killer). Even his name tag said Rookie. So having a variable as the one who picks up the pack not only can be kept straight, but increases the immersion of the players into the game.
