Name for the "new recruit"?

So is there going to be a name given to the new recruit?

yep, “rookie”.

Damn. So no “real” name then?

I don’t believe that information has been let out of the bag. The tag on his uniform says “ROOKIE”. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

And of course, they may deliberately leave it unspoken.

his name will be Dan E. Murraimis (E. stay for Ernie) or Harold “Billy” Aykrudson

I thought I remembered hearing his name somewhere in one of the videos. I must be mistaken. I would have remembered something like that. :whatever:

That be awesome if they had a feature like in the wwe smackdown games. kind of like “create-a-wrestler” but it be “create-a-buster” were you get to customize his look and name and everything so its like your actually in the game and actually a buster. idk, maybe its just me wanting to really be a buster and thinking thats asking for alot.

I’ll be happy just having the game though

you know… it occurs to me, that if the name says rookie, maybe it is possible that you do have a name feature that lets you change the name on the tag, and the developers intentionally had it say rookie, as a generic default for gameplay footage and screenshots… Most games I play now adays make me enter my name anyway, so maybe they got an engine for that.

Just a thought.

Either that or it really does say “Rookie”, because he’s new and they don’t know if he’s gonna last very long yet. If he quits after a week, they can just give his flight suit to the next new hire (asssuming they’re around the same size). Saves the money on having a custom patch made until he “earns” it.

i always thought they did that becuase they weren’t gonna release his name and did the rookie name tag becuase they knew people would try to read the tag as a way to find out the guys name. i mean thats how we know it says rookie so they’re probably won’t release the name at least until the game is released.

though i could be wrong, though i hope i’m not cause i prefer the idea of a character with a name it just sounds better

If they were gonna have a uniform with no name to train rookies… wouldn’t it be easier to have a uniform with no tag, on it at all, for rookies. lol I still think they have the write your own name thing going, but that is just me hoping like a fan boy.

I wouldn’t mind him being unnamed really or just referred to by the guys as rookie, new recruit etc. That way it would still give the feeling somewhat that you’re involved as yourself and are just playing through the character.

I wouldn’t mind either if he had a name. After all, if this is the “third movie” I would expect the new recruit to have a name. I’m fine with the Rookie tag.

It doesn’t matter too much to me either way. Like they said with all the stuff planned it would have been really hard to customize your character. Did they say anywhere if he would react and talk back to the guys or would it be a couple of grunts and other stuff for getting hit and you’re just listening to the guys?

I can’t wait until we hear some of the in game comments from the actors. It’ll be awesome to have all those guys talking to you, imagine Venkman giving you a hard time.

what the heck, lets just name him Matt :sunglasses:

When I spoke to the guys at Sierra about the 5th GB. He told me that the “Rookie” is not final yet and the guy you see running around is just one of the line production guy’s heads. They are from what he told me “still working out all the details on the fifth GB.”

They did keep saying they are still in the pre-alpha stage of the game… Hell the pre-alpha stage looks pretty alpha to me, so I’m wondering how it will turn out when they actually are finished. I think it will look pretty sweet.

Agreed Dr. Logan!!!

My thoughts exactly.

On G4 for the demo, it turns out Associate Producer Ryan French is the model for the Rookie.

Just watched it. How cool would that be to have a Ghostbuster character modeled after you?

Anyway, I’m fairly sure that they’ll include character customization. The game developers would be shooting themselves in the foot for not including such a common feature found in so many games.

I’d be impressed if they included xbox vision cam support. I love that feature for Rainbow Six Vegas, haha.
