What is the correct outer diameter of the handles on the proton gun? Someone told me today the correct OD was 1 inch, i was under the impression that it was 1.25 inches. Can someone please clarify, because I am wanting to get a multimediamayhem kit but the tubes he is using with his kits look too skinny to me, because the ones on my other gun I purchased are biggerlooking, So if someone could please drop me that little piece of infor I would be very greatefull, thanks.
They are 1.25". The confusion is coming from Sean’s plans where he noted the handles were 1" pcv, which is true, but the PVC pipe labled as 1" is actually 1.25" in diameter. PVC pipe is mesured from the inner diameter.

With a little sanding, they fit onto the correct sized PVC with no prob.

I’m in the same boat as protoman is, I thought about getting one but was affraid to ask.
I am really not liking the 1.25" size. It just doesn’t look or fit right..
I’m going for the 1.125"
According to my research, every image of the gun I’ve studied, the handle was slightly thinner than the clippard valve, which is 1.25".
I don’t care what you guys think you know and I can see where this is going and coming from. I have built many guns and to me the 1" pipe works fine and looks right and fits well with the 7/8" acrylic tip and the grips.
I’ve never up until now had anyone come up to me and say my gun tubes are too skinny. I bore the end out to 7/8" to accept the acrylic tip and once the collar is on it matches up nicely to the gun tube.
If you don’t like the 1" tubes you can always change them as Zander did although I don’t think it’s needed.
Whoa, Irricanian, sorry man, no one was trying to rub you the wrong way, I was just asking what was and wasn’t correct, as I have heard 2 different stories, from multiple sides and I just wanted some clarification. Oh and bro, your kit’s look great, no doubt about that at all, this is not an attack on you or your products, it was meant to find out if they were acurrate or not. For some of us a smaller tube might not be a big deal, but for me and i’m sure for others as well, we want our guns as accurate as possible, and that’s why I was asking the question. I wanted to find out what the correct size was,and what the correct diameter was before I made a determination on what to get.
Question to you though Irri. Why not just go with the larger pvc? Then your kits would kick serious serious a$$. because everything else looks fantastic.
I thought it was 1-3/8" OD or about 1-1/4" ID. or (1-1/8" ID).
1" OD is too small.
1" ID is what I normally use for PVC.
The accurate OD for the handles is 1.25".

Since this thread surfaced, maybe someone here knows.. what type of store typically carries the clear rods/pipe people are using for these?
