Ok, so I’m helping a friend buld is first pack. We’ve pretty much nailed everything down materials wise, but we’re stumped on the cyclotron. What’s the best way to make it or something to use that LOOKS like it. Seriously, this is the one and only key part that’s holding us back, so any help would be wonderful. Thanks!

I went to the dollarstore and found these 9" wood rings in the craft section. If I stack 6 of them I pretty much have the height I need. I’m gonna cover this with a styrene circle them bondo and sand this puppy to perfection… or as close to it as my skills allow me.

maybe i’m the only one thinking this, but if you’re going to do a styrene edge on your cyclotron, why do you need to stack six of those rings? seems like a waste of money you’ll end up needing later for other parts! i would just cut the styrene to the right height, then glue it on two of those rings. but that’s just how i would do it. props to you for building either way! post plenty of pics!!!
I’m not going to have styrene around the rings, I’m going to have a styrene circle on top of it all. I realised recently that I have troubles bending styrene.. can’t seem to get the shapes I want so I try to work around this problem as much as I can.

One thing i did find at a store which so far has worked and looks nice is
Kitchen Aid’s 9 inch Silicone Cake pan
I will post pictures tonight but for 13 bucks it looks like the cake pan in the lazy susan base. Only problem is its silicone so I had to cut an 8" hole in the generator to back it and not let it flop around or cave in.
The only problems I have forseen and one has already happend was the hot glue does not adhere like it would if it was metal. It holds but I not 100% comforatable with it and I am not sure how the paint will adhere so its a work in progress :lol:
I will post some pics of the thing on the pack tonight and this weekend I will know more of the paint and how well it works
I would just pick up some epoxy and use that. Thats just my 2 cents. But I can’t wait to see some progress pics
