I am attempting to make my 1st proton pack and I am stumped on how to make this or what to use for it. I bought a 9’’ cake pan at Walmart, but it just doesnt look right to me. This could be because I am having trouble visualizing it as a finished product or maybe not. Opinions?

There’s a couple 9" cake pans walmart sells. One has vertical sides, and is either 2.5" or 3" deep and a 1/4" bevel, and the other is 2" deep and has sides which are slightly angled and a more shallow bevel.
You want the first kind.. But the cyclotron is only 2", so you’ll want to make the hole in your spacer big enough that you can place it below the surface a bit.
I made my hole just large enough that it was a snug fit and after putting the ring around it, (which will sit right on the lip) and gluring that into place it wasn’t going anywhere.

I just checked, and the pan I got is a “nordicware layer cake pan”.
