I’m Danielle… mom of 2 little ghostbuster fans. The new movie has them hooked. Every Halloween we go over the top decorating out home with a different theme. You guessed it… this year is ghostbusters. To give you the idea of how big we go… I’ve already ordered a 30 ft Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. Over 750 kids came last year and we are expecting more this year.
I’m looking for GBfans to help us out. **If you have any large props we can borrow (or rent), we would really appreciate it. **
We have blown up terror dogs, a large white SUV that I’m looking to resemble Ecto-1, my enormous Stay-Puft Marshmallow man and an amazing balloon artist creating a huge Slimer for me. Any other ideas or props you might have to decorate our lawn?
It’s great to read that you have two kids who are big Ghostbusters fans, and it’s good to know they enjoyed the 2016 movie.
The subject of renting props is a tricky one. A good replica of a Proton Pack for instance can clock up anywhere between a few hundred dollars for a basic model, to nearer a few thousand if it has more elaborate functions built into it… and obviously larger prop replicas, like Containment Units, or Ectomobiles, will cost even more.
Due to this, few fans are willing to lend or rent their replicas out because of the high cost of the items, and the outside (but possible chance) things could be damaged, as accidents do happen.
Something that may serve as a good compromise, is an invite for some fans to appear in costume at the event you’re hoping to organise.
Failing that, we’ve got quite a few individuals who would be willing to walk you through the steps to potentially building your own budget gear, but budget gear that looks good.
