DL4567 Fiberglass Pack Shells for Sale & Custom Motherboards

I just did some research on the net and found 2 Water Jet and 2 Laser cutting places all in this area. As soon as I can make a template for my shells, I’ll be getting quotes from them.

Theboysingrey, if you’re not in a huge hurry building your pack, maybe hold off a bit on that MMM board…

Vince, thanks for that link about making your motherboard. That is a big help.

Awesome shell man :crunch:

DL4567 I can hold off and final assembly. Right now its parts collecting. But I’ll wait for your board.

Next will be a metal gun body yee haw.

do you ship to italy?

I shipped one to Australia a few years ago, so Italy should be just fine. I’d probably reinforce the box the same way I did that one. He said there was a corner bashed in when it arrived, but the shell inside was unharmed.

ok but in future you do a shell more accurated like the vincenzo330’s one?

I put a ton of work into the buck, and don’t have that many pulls yet on this mold, so this is the only shell I’ll be offering in the near future.

do you do a run o i can order to you directly?

Hi holymattbone, there is no official “run,” I am making these continuously. Please send me a PM to discuss ordering.

Hows the motherboard hunt coming?

Just finished the first shell, and will be tracing that for the motherboard template. As long as one of the four local places does it for around what’s Vince is charging for his mobos, there should be no problem.

Having not done this in 4 years, this first shell went a little slower than expected. Some of my material was past its shelf life which set things back a bit, but now I’m getting back into the rhythm of this process.

I’ve got a ton of resin ordered and on the way and will be in full swing on making these. Will keep everyone posted on the motherboards.

Can’t wait to see it.

How do you mount your lenses in the shell? What adhesive would you suggest?

Hey theboysingrey, did you get your MMM mother board? I’ve got one and I want to try it before I order one to go with it, even though i’m sure DL4567’s will be a better fit

This is the way I did it on my fiberglass pack. In order to glue in the lenses and be sure they’re exactly flat/parallel with the face of the cyclotron, get something flat and glue a circle 1/4" thick that is small enough to fit into the lens hole onto that flat object, and put it tight against the outside of each cyclotron ring as you glue in the lens from behind. Studying the Planet Hollywood pics led me to conclude that the lenses are 1/4" back from the face of each ring on the shell.

The thickness of the shell will vary slightly, so it may not always be exactly like shown here. In my case my first shell was quite thick, and so I put epoxy around the edge of each red lens and slid it into the hole. The support circle will keep it from going forward too far, and any smeared epoxy will be on the circular wall inside the pack and not visible. Don’t get any epoxy on the face of the lens (front or back) as you’ll probably see that if there’s a light kit behind it.

Please excuse the crudity of this diagram.

How long does it ship after ordering? Im pretty close to ordering. Great work on the shell!!!

No I’m waiting for DL4567 to finish his motherboards and use that instead.

PM sent.

EDIT:

All the requests for quotes are now out on the motherboards. Hoping to hear back from the companies quickly.

I would very much like to order one of your shells!

here’s hoping you find matching motherboards.

Hi Nafi, thanks for the interest. I would very much like to make a shell for you.

UPDATE ON THE MOTHERBOARDS:

Got a couple quotes in today, and the good news is that I’ll be able to match Vince’s price of $40 with the purchase of a shell. If the water jet place keeps their promise, I’ll have them in hand by the middle of next week.

Now that sounds nice.
