Hi there, after doin my Ecto 1A with a Joy ride version of the Ecto 1. i Just decide to redo both Ecto 1 and 1 A with the old Kenner version of the Ecto. It still a work in progress but there where i am at the moment, more upcoming!
There’s a little addition for this project, im finish with the light, originnaly i tried to take the original light and just modify them but they wasnt large enough and not the good shape so i decided to created new ones. Im trying to keep the “toy” look, cause the kenner car proportion are not good as the Joy Ride die cast, the roof is less longer.
I always wanted to do this to my ecto’s. Even as a kid the inaccuracies in the toys was bugging me to death. I did paint the top equipment but that was it. Nothing even close to doing this.
It always annoyed me how inaccurate the Kenner Ecto-1 roof was… I longed for the little round lights that were at the base of the light bars, not to mention the red ‘ecto scope’ from the rear of the roof rack.
Spengler, awesome conversion work and detailing on the ‘chrome’. Will you be painting the headlights, and adding darker elements to the front radiator grille?
didnt someone do one once where they lowered the back of the roof and all…it was cool to…this is great work!>..ive wanted to do soemthing like this for quite a while…im looking foward to seeing the end result
That was sonicblasters’ Ecto-1. I believe he did some really good detailing on the roof rack along with adding the headlights and the tail lights in the fins. A very nice job. I remember becaues at the time I had just posted about the lights I added to mine and he swiftly charged in and showed me up real good.

Now someone needs to do a good firehouse. I remember I put beds in mine on the top floor. I know it makes it sound more like a dollhouse but the firehouse was so empty. I always wanted to make the firehouse longer by maybe putting two together.
Yah the firehouse could be a very good project! i remember when i was kid i got like 100 Ghostbusters figures, car, building etc.. And one day i sold everythings… i regret is very much now!!!
Damn you super nintendo to let me sold my toys at that time!!! Doin that kind of project are very funny, im doin it when i have spare time, will doin very much at the beginning of winter, after done my Joy Ride Ecto 1A i wanted a bigger project… until i got a place to work on a Proton pack !!

Im about to put some addition about the project, my roof rack are done and ready ti paint, and one prop are rdy to paint to. there is lil pix for those asked how doin them, easyer to see how they are made before be painted
Theres my roof rack, lot shorter than the original one, the kenner version are sooooooo short lol
Need to see more pics there amazing .lol guess what guys im making the ecto 1a out of a white thin card board box i have the 2 sides of the car done. the left side and the right and i have the roof on and the front of the car.
i have nothing on the roof yet no wheels, no back, and no bottom yet, i will soon though i just got to figure out everything.
And theres 2 props of the roof, the fan rack is different from the last post i did, i just realized that i hated it lol, i just redo it and now it look better and more realistic. the other is hmm how call it… ill call it the wire box, ill add more wire attached to it when ill defenitely fix it in the rook rack
Its where i am, ill continue as soon as possible, ill prolly finish the roof rack (add the missing detail) and after prolly the ion canon… more coming soon!!!
