We finally got rid of our old beat up 2001 eclipse and finally got something we can call our ECTO, a Ford Freestyle.
So of couse we are going to see what we can do with it.
Here are some construction pics of the roof rack we are making for it. We have 3 green light bars coming, as well as No Ghost magnets, caution tape, and some other add-ons. We are looking to complete this by the end of the month.

I’ve been eyeballing Ford Freestyles for months with this in mind. I’m anxious to see how it turns out.
wow, looks awesome.
i thought that car look fimiliar, it is almost identical to my own car.

Read that although they look similar, the engineering differences are almost total.
I think yours is more of a ford escape which is shorter. My freestyle is long like the expedition but shorter. Great ride though. Well have more updates soon.
When you title this as “ecto-cruiser,” I wholly think of the PT Cruiser.
And you don’t want to be associated with that.
What about Ecto-style? Or… hell, I dunno.
We just kind of came up with it on a whim. We were thinking about Ecto-Freestyle but I didnt like the sound. Maybe Ecto-PC for Palm Coast. Deffinately something to think about. We’ve got a long weekend of building this weekend. Should have some more pics up by monday.
Here are some updated pics and video of how the ECTO is coming along. The roof rack will be 100% completed this weekend.

We needed back up for this call…

Lights and Siren Installed

VIDEO of everything in action.. with sound

I can’t wait to ride in it next week!
It is really going to be fun, Its not complete though until we put everything on together, it going to be a challenge now that the roof rack has stuff on it well need more people to lift. We also have some blue hose for the side of the car also.
I’ve snooped through your photobucket… GET THOSE PICTURES UP! The rack looks freaking amazing!
Also, your pictures are tiny! Recommended image resolution for forums these days is 800x600.
Also, this:
My rack weighs only 115lbs or so, it isn’t a nightmare to lift but goddamn if the size and shape of it don’t make it most difficult thing for less than four people to move and delicately position.
Early on while building my car I brainstormed a sort of “dry dock” with a hoist that would lower the rack onto the car. It remained a dream unfocused dream until a year later when, while building my jeep, I came across a machine on the Quadratec website. It was a hoist for raising and lowering Jeep hardtops… BEHOLD!
Now, if only I had a garage tall enough to drive the car INTO…

Hey man quick question for ya. I just watched your video and I wanted to know what you used for the Siren sound effects ?
I have a whelen hhs handsfree siren with a custom sound system attached to it and a downloaded siren sound and it plays through the 100watt siren
I uped the quality of the pics so everyone can get a better look.
Here is the completed roof rack Got it done mid-day this past Sunday.
We will be mounting it up on the car for a parade on Saturday… will post more pics after that

hey…nice rack.
Sorry couldn’t resist.
Thanks for all the great pics! I had pretty much decided to go metal with mine, but after seeing how well that came out, I may have to go wooden…
But again great job it looks fantastic!
Look pretty cool, cant wait to see it on the truck:P
Looks great. How’s it for pack storage?
Its great, large trunk space I can fit a couple packs and equipment in the back
We finally got to reveal the ECTO last night at the Palm Coast Christmas Parade.
The crowd really loved us, and we reached the end of the parade we could hear people shouting “Ghostbusters!!”
Was an awesome night..
So here are the finished pics from the ECTO.

And here is a quick video of the lights, siren, and sound (we put a 15 watt amp up in the roof rack (just enough room) and had some songs playing out of it) in action.
