Hello all Busters and slimers of the world.
First a small introduction. My name is Arie and I live in the Netherlands. And just like a lot of you, totally hooked on GB. Always wanted to own an Ecto mobile. But since I live in europe does a very hard to find and very expensive. So I thought wy not build one myself. The question I asked myself during the process, what kind of car would the GB use if they had also a company in Europe. The car would be totally different. So I looked to cars that european police is using in the Netherlands, U.K. and Scandinavia and came up with a Volvo V70 from 2006.
Because it’s not an Miller Meteor it gives me freedom to do what I want. I what is fiting in the GB universe. So there are going to be soms changes.
First off the lights are not going to be blue, they are going to be purple and amber in the grill. Wy purple ?, well Dan Aykroyd wanted to use purple lights but they have switched to blue instead. And because of legal reasons, in the Netherlands and Germany (I live close to the border) its illegal to have blue lights. And third, purple looks cool.
The design of the outside of the car is a combination of 1A and 1. The red stripe follows the line from the back to the front, and the yellow and black is on the bottom, but its going to be thinner then on the picture.
The roof rack is going to be an exact replica. The propello ray light and siren housing is 3D printed. With a red blinker on the inside. yes a litle bit different, but a propello ray is not to be found. In the sirene housing we are placing a speaker for the ecto-sirene.
And there is lots and lots more, with a couple of fun easter eggs and fun stuff.
What is the end goal, well very simple, have fun and share the positivity that GB and ecto brings. And it’s going to be a very good promotional car for my company. More of that later in this topic.
Problems: yes,…how in the f, can I make the sniffer safe to drive, there are so litle designs to be found. Thats a very big challenge. And the radar on the back, same case. How can I make it safe to drive. One way is to remove it when I am driving on the highway and place it, when I am going to an event or drive slow in city’s of vilages. if anyone has idea’s please share.
I am open for idea’s. And please note the scatch is very raw and not the final design. Some decals are going to be smaller and bigger.
