Well have finally bitten the bullet and decided to take on the Hook & Ladder 8 PC case mod, please note that these are just test fits and are by no means the finished product, just to gauge how it is going to look…Enjoy ..cheers Andy
in keeping with proportion I have to build the sides of the case out and then enclose them with 3mm MDF board, this will also occur with the front oh the case to allow for the window recess, is slowly coming along but will be worth it in the end.
I SO want to do this to my massive tower at home. but I dont have the wood working skills. if I did it all myself it would end up being a flat foamcore shell (sort of like my minimates firehouse) with the firehouse design glued to it and holes cut out for the usb ports, dvd drive etc, and no back wall (wires) and would be really lame compared to yours.
i thought about doing this a while back but then my pc took a ■■■■ on me. so then i got a mac book. I was going to put the cd drive behind the doors so the doors would open when you of course opened the tray. also thought about putting some led’s on the tray face plate, so a night it looked like the ecto was busting out. Good luck on the build. I know its gonna turn out fantastic!
not a lot in the way of updates, have a mate who does the finer dremelling for me, as years of taking pain killers and morphine, have left me with the shakes, so have to work around his schedule also…hopefully now I have just replaced all of my old/outdated power tools I can get cracking again…Andy
Well today was spent smoothing down the edges and installing the new DVD rom Fascia, so that the tray door now sits level with the rest of the case…see video below
