Ok, I don’t know if this has been addressed before but if the proton gun in EGB runs off proton canisters, why the hell do they need a pack, or a pack that large? It seems that it’s a complete mystery why they need a pack when the source of their power can be contained all within the gun now? All i can imagine is that those yellow roll things in the pack are just spare proton canisters, but still I just don’t get the EGB pack, it would make more sense if they all just wore what Kylie wears, at least then they’d all have traps.
Just puzzling to me guys, wonder if anyone could shed some light on things?
Its just a cartoon. It doesn’t HAVE to make any sense.
If you want to justify it, then just make something up, like the new packs are 100% lighter and safer then the original packs, and the canisters actually remove expended nuclear material, so it can be disposed of properly.
Aha, makes sense, I guess the lever on the pack is an emergency power switch just in-case of meltdown, lol sorry guys just trying to make sense of the pack, I may want to build one out of glow in the dark plastic and metal from the scrap metal yard around the corner from my house
Lol my mate’s call me Tony cause I have the tendency to make awesome things from boxes of scarps (although the closes I’ve got to a cave is a small alcove in my living room). Also that I kinda look like a Tony Stark in his early 20’s.
Which probably explains why I’m saving up to buy enough scrap metal to build an iron man powered suit. Looks like I’ve got too many projects on at the moment, I’ve got my Fusion pack, the Iron man suit and now an EGB pack 0_o Dang…
The whole concept behind the XGB packs is more power, as the previous generation wasn’t powerful enough to counter Akira.
The canister system, to my mind is probably the key to the increased output, sort of a nitro system for proton packs. However, due to the need to get the packs in service rapidly, the canisters are always on without a bypass, so no canister, no busting.
The pack’s actually small, most of the size is due to the canister storage.
The whole concept behind the XGB packs was completely flawed. A pathetic attempt to one-up the old technology, claiming it was now underpowered and unefficient, with new, shiny, “extreme” equipment. :eyeroll:
As a viewer? It defiantly was done to “one up” the originals. “See, we fight harder ghosts”, “We have new, shiney gear”. The design lacks all the character and detail found in the movie packs. Although, I think the design has potential.
I thought they just redesigned the packs to look simpler, thus easier to draw. Goes along well with the whole lazy attitude towards the animation and art direction of the xgb series. Seriously, the xgb packs were way easier to draw/render than rgb packs.(imo)
hi, im here with a needle to burst your bubble. if you plan on making an iron man suit out of metal, it will be heavy, over cumbersome and probably difficult to maneuver. forget about sitting down, and going to the bathroom and plan on being ridiculously tired.
dont tell me “it’ll be worth it” because in reality, that isnt going to happen. there are companies trying to make exosuits as we speak and they’re no where near as close as ironman armor, and they are heavy, over cumbersome, and difficult to maneuver in, and the wearer cant sit down, and has to completely unstrap themselves out of it to go to the bathroom.
Actually it isn’t that bad, I know plastic is the easiest and most obvious choice, I’m not making this one to wear, I’m making this one just because I can If I we#re making one to wear i’d rather go with the comical side of making it out of cardboard boxes with an angry face drawn on with ‘Iron Man’ written in crayon
I already have the specs, and got serious advice from people who make genuine medieval armour replicas for movies and they’ve already recommended me materials etc. So I know it’s possible to make one out of metal. I just need the cash to buy it
As far as the EGB one that’ll be easy to build from metal, I’m not saying worth it though because the EGB pack is so awfully designed I want to puke every-time I see it, still it looks like it’s made from unpainted steel and aluminum, so If I were making that prop It would genuinely have to be made from metal I’ve made too many things out of plastic, wood and cardboard, and spray paint just doesn’t quite cut it for the real thing. So if I were to ever decide to make a monstrosity that is the EGB pack, it would have to be made out of the genuine materials.
Sorry, Nicholszz, but the movie and Real Ghostbusters packs are better than the XGB one.. the XGB Pack just comes off as boring, seeming too well manufactured and designed for it to be the product of maverick scientists.
I did like the new Trap and the PKE Meter, though.
im going with my gut and saying you have years of experience making prop replicas. so, you’re “im making all this stuff” dick waving, you’ll actually follow through and you’re not some kid with eyes bigger than his skills.
honestly, im completely full of shit.
right. im also sure you have access to the tools to put it all together, and the knowledge to use those tools.
yo, though I’m new here (actually one of my first posts~) I have to say, I like the EGB packs, I actually recently finished one (Well kinda still needs…) but with close attention to detail in the show I think the EGB packs have WAY more potential than people give credit for.
BESIDES Hopefully everyone understands… if they ever make a GB3 movie, it will MOST LIKELY be extreme ghostbusters the movie XD and MOST LIKELY there will be new proton packs, so… yeah. Don’t get me wrong, I love the original movie packs… their just beautiful machines, but I like the others just as much. (as far as the topic states, i’ll do my best to explane parts of the EGB pack when I put up my plans)
I’m going to be a butthole and jump in on this post. I LOVE the original GB packs..but for some reason I can’t explain I still seem drawn to the newer XGB packs. I don’t think they’ll ever top my love of the originals but I do think that new and fresh is better than something thats been beat into the ground day in and day out. I personally don’t have a pack yet. I’m trying desparately to find someone to help me build or buy one but I am seriouslly thinking of doing something like a custome XGB pack myself. It should be cheaper and get more “wth?” looks at conventions and in public. Don’t get me wrong though…I’d still kill for a nice mark 1.
