Currently my ecto goggles use nylon straps, and I"m looking to make the switch to a more accurate material like elastic webbing. Before I do that though, I was wondering if anyone had any experience getting a lot of use out of an accurate strap setup and whether or not it holds up well, maintains its flexibility, etc. over time.
Thanks
I actually just replaced my elastic with nylon webbing and adjustable sliding buckles. The elastic is better in theory, but the issue i kept having was that, dued to the weight of the goggles, they would droop down onto my face. The elastic is more versatile and can go from the “down” to “up” positions instantly, but they would bounce and slowly fall down into my face when I would walk. With the nylon, I can tighten them up and they’ll stay up there. They’re worn up there most of the time anyway.
If you do use elastic, use a thicker, more sturdy elastic. If I went back to elastic, I would use the strap that is used for football shoulder pads. Also, I would put the sliding buckles on there as well.
That’s what I was worried about. I guess for now I’ll hold out unless I come across some more heavy duty stuff.
Thanks
