Feedback Needed - 3D Animation Proton Stream Test

Just wanted to first say hi and…

I’m trying to put together a 3D animation of Ghostbusters but right now I’m working on the proton stream.

Trying to use something else besides After Effects like most of the videos that I’ve seen..

Can I get some constructive feedback ?

Here’s the video test render.

I know some details are needed to the gun but it’s the proton stream I’m asking about.

Thank in advance!!

It shows why everyone uses After Effects. The secondary blue lightening needs to be outward more and more of it. You need light coming from the tip of the gun like the movies.

Basically, you are not even close to how it looked.

Constructive… well I gave suggestions on what needed to be added… I think if you sped up the red(maybe make it a bit more orange) lightening you make make it seem more like it did in the films.

Just for laughs, and to show my not so good version…

I seriously needed sparks, and that beam is too orange. But it was fun. lol

Yes, speed up the movement of the red/orange core, and separate the blue electricity. The electricity should wrap around the core, like it’s afraid to touch it, before breaking off and dying out.

And keep in mind that one of the key components of the proton stream “look” is that it’s moving back into the wand. If you go through the first movie frame by frame, you’ll see the stream doing just that. It’s a big part of getting the movement looking right.

I’ll see what I can do and thanks for the feedback.
