my first proton stream

hi! im working on a script for a ghostbusters fanfilm that i want to film. nothing big. like a 30 minute movie, just alittle project to keep me out of trouble =). ive got several digital video editors and wanted to try out a proton stream effect seeing as how i would be doing the special effects myself. so here it is:

any and all comments welcome, good or bad. thanks

For a first try, it’s frickin’ stupendous! A+ on that one. I only really see a few things wrong with it, and they’re very easy simple fixes. The beam itself is… too tight. Loosen it up a bit, like a piece of wiggly rope. Second, your orange glow around it is to precise. Needs to be a bit bigger, and a teeny bit less prominant. Last, but not least, your blue arcs need the little off shoots like lightning has. Besides those three, I think it’s an amazing start. I’ll tell you my first proton stream looked so much worse than that. Seriously. What software did you use?

i used a program called photoshop 5.5

and thanks for the compliments and corrections, ill be sure to work on those things. thanks again.

It’s not a foolproof tutorial, but here’s one of a couple of Photoshop tutorials for creating Proton Streams:

Nice work on the stream so far.

A couple? I only see one.

Nice proton stream. I only have one suggestion to add from what others have said, and that is that the yellow/orange core is just a teeny bit too wide. Just make it a touch thinner. Of course, that may just be my own opinion.

Well, I said there was one of them… I’ve seen a few floating about of various quality.

Some are pretty good, some not so.

Oops…I didn’t see the “one of” part of that sentance, so what I read was simply “here’s a couple.” My mistake.

I saw one once that was pretty nice, but I can’t remember for the life of me where I saw it.

took me long enough but i think i did well:

Dude, that looks good!
