First time twin pack scratch build.

For many years of lurking on the forum and want to build a pack I am going too. My plan is to build 2 styrene packs by Halloween using kits for the throwers. I have spent the last 2 weeks catching up on new information since I was on last. Is there any information on vinyl templates to speed up cutting the styrene to the correct size needed? As I get started I will post photos of my progress, considering building one as a GB1 and the other GB2.

Ecto-Wes can help me out with the vinyl patterns he used to build his pack. I finally found a local company that I can buy sheet styrene from, so I should have some photos up in the next week. Did a parts run to Walmart for 9" cake pans and Lowe’s for some PVC pipe.

I finally picked up some Styrene .125 sheet, I decided to use Venkman 71’s plans for my build. I am having a real problem laying out the flat spots on the bottom of the spacer. what is the correct angel used?

I thought I would update on my progress so far, my plan is to make a mold and cast up a fiberglass shell. instead of building 2 shells from scratch. The big problem I am having is is aligning the spacer to the EAD and the Gearbox.

Now some pictures:

How did I not see this before? I love watching scratch builds! I can’t help with info but good luck!

Joe this is very impressive! Keep up the good work!

It was easy to miss I had no pictures until today. I don’t have all the little details, but I am happy about the gearbox looking like the screen used packs. So far I have only used about half of a 4’x4’ sheet of styrene,

Great progress, looking forward to more.

Wow! Very smooth, very well done so far! Excited to see this one finish!

This is so damn awesome. I love scratch builds. I wish like hell I could source some styrene I really want to try something like this.

Keep up the good work. And as always…MORE PICTURES!!

I thought I would post up some progress pictures of my pack build. All of the main parts have 2 coats of high primer. The measurements for the dots on the Cyclotron are 1/8" on each side of the 45 angel center line and 1/8" in from the outer edge, the “dot” is a No 30 drill bit. The only question I have, is what is the measurement between the EAD and the Spacer? I have it at roughly 1 3/4" or should it be 1 1/2" like the base of the beam Line?

Well here is my update on the mold I am making, the clippard disc is from nick-a-tron (with permission) to cast in. Just waiting for a N-filter from Ejgunth87. How dose it look? I will be getting help with making the silicone mold and pulling the shells from a true craftsman.

Looking good so far! I have to ask. Where did you get the cake pan to make the cyclotron?

Looking excellent so far!
