GB central.....

With a new age of fully explorable environments, I wonder if you would be able to freely explore the Ghostbusters’ fire hall.

Personally, I think that would be a cool thing for any Ghost head.

I was kind of sad to learn you can’t drive the car, but being able to see it up close would rule all kinds of groovyness.

I also wouldn’t mind seeing the Ecto Containment system in movie universe format, once more… Maybe they made it bigger.

i thought it said in one of the interviews or articles that were shown on this site or links to them that the fire house was explorable?

or was that just what everyone kept saying they wanted?

God, it would be cool to walk around the firehouse. Even if it’s to do things like change outfits or investigate gear you’ve unlocked. Make it the interface, since I don’t know how you’d make it part of the gameplay.

In the original GameInsider article, it specifically stated the Firehouse would be a freeroaming environment, and that you would even be able to slide down the Firepole.

Whilst I vert much doubt it’ll accurately replicate Station 23’s interior, I have plenty of positive vibes that the garage and lounge will look like how they appeared in the film, simply scaled to the dimensions of the New York Firehouse exterior.

It’d be a nice nod to fans if they were to adopt the RGB Containment Unit design, just like 88MPH did. Egon did say the system was getting crowded, and a bigger one was evidently needed… and as for a bigger version, a design already exists that could be used.

They’ll probably design their own, of course… but it’d be a great reference for fans of the cartoon if they did ‘the logical thing’.

As for it’s role in things, the original article said, and subsequent ones have eluded to the idea that the Firehouse is a between missions base… it may even be where you witness some of the plot unfold… but it also makes sense this would be a safe haven, and that it’d probably be where you can save and load games, as well as check out the latest equipment upgrades.

Sadly out of the three shots I’ve seen of it so far (Two from Game Trailers TV, one of which actually showed more of the block - and one from an Italian based video) this is the best out of the three.

It was interesting to note that the second shot (it appeared briefly in the Game Trailers TV segment on a computer monitor that someone was working at) showed the block, and whilst that tall apartment building with the cafe on the ground floor appeared to have been accurately recreated, a number of the other buildings on the block weren’t accurate to the TriBeCa location.

But I suppose as a few of them have been demolished now, maybe the game designers are reflecting that, by showing that New York has changed a little since the events involving Vigo.

That would be a bit like the GTA games where you can retreat to your safehouse and save games, change outfits or watch t.v (in GTA IV).

If the game was set after GB1 instead of GB2 you’d have a great view of New York through the massive hole in the roof.

i like the idea of the rgb containment unit but it still would be hard to explain that big of a change cause remember the difference in between the movie basement and containment unit (which was half a flight of stairs and a small unit) and the rgb (which was a giant basement with a cat walk and a huge containment unit) the idea of having a bigger containment unit would make sense but making it exactly would probably be impossible. i know it’s a game but they probably, if they do show it, won’t make it a lot like the rgb maybe just a bigger containment unit but not some giant one or they would have to alter the structure to the fire house

not to be to realistic cause it is a movie and soon a game

i just always believe the cartoons have nothing to do with the movies aside from the premises and character names and some background info

I wonder if they’ll explain how they go from the horrid GB2 logo back to the original.

Maybe they’ll have Venkman question Stantz; “Why did we ever change the original logo…I mean, why fix something that 'aint broke”?

…not that it is a bad design…it was great for the advertising aspect of gb2, but as a kid I was disappointed that they used it in the movie as their logo.

I never liked the second logo either.

I think it worked great for the advertising aspect of GB2. Obviously they wanted something that was gonna say the Ghostbusters are back but it’s new! Honestly the in movie logo use of GB2, I don’t know why it bothers so many people. I think it’s such a minor thing to worry about in the movie to me anyway. I think the logo is so legendary now it’s a little harder to look back at the GB2 logo but I think the GB2 is still immediately recognizable. A ghost in the red no symbol. Lots of companies temporarily change/modify their logos to where they’re recognizable but are different to show some sort of new thing.

Would have seemed kinda dumb to have a spiffy new logo showcasing the second movie and not have them wear it. The more people see of the guys wearing the GB2 logo on their sleeve, the more Hardees zappers, t-shirts, key chains and other stuff they could sell. Probably the “in movie” reason could have been very much like the promotion for the movie to show they were back in business but to get people curious with a new look which would probably explain the new jumpsuits as well.

Hopefully it won’t start the what does the two fingers mean argument again. What was the topic? Oh yeah! It’d be great to go around in the firehouse  That was one of the fun things about GB Doom when it was out.

That’s my thoughts though.

Ah, but remember that they had to completely rebuild much of the firehouse after Peck shut off the ECU and they defeated Gozer. Perhaps they expanded the basement to hold the bigger ECU. It makes sense as the original ECU was the center of the explosion…

yeah i guess that makes sense but that most likely would have led to the building collapsing because of the explosion while it only seemed to have only blown up a small art of the building and most of the roof, but i guess the explosion could have been mostly underground.

i like the idea of a bigger ecu but just the drastic change from small basment to a giant one seemed a bit of a drastic change and would have been extremely costly especially since fter the explosion they would have been shut down from all the lawsuits

I’d rather they just not touch on the subject than to subtly bash (not the best choice of words so feel free to substitute it with something a little less, uh, whatever sounding) GB2.

lol maybe the GB2 logo could have just been explained as the ghost giving the peace sign… lol could be Venkman’s idea.

But yeah the RGB containment unit was w2hat I hinted at, when i suggested it could be “made bigger” _Citizen Ghost-

I loved how they did it in the 88mph comics… and as for the basement being bigger int he cartoon…

Remodeling is common, after an explosion… I’d imagine the basement got blown up real good when wally wick shut the system down, so maybe they made a deeper basement… who knows…

But that would rock if you could go down the fire poles too… I’d love to do that…

I’d be the oddball rookie recruit that would slide down the pole, run up stairs, and slide back down and repeat…

It would be funny if there was an interaction from Janine at her desk if you slid down the pole one time too many and she would say “Yes the pole still works…” as she rolls her eyes… not likely they would do that, but it would be funny.

it would be ironic if they did it cause it would be easier than filling up the small crater from the explosion of the ecu

interaction from the characters in the firehouse based on what you do would be cool, the idea of going down the pole again and again and they might yell out something like “the guy loves it almost as much as ray did when he first found it.” or “hhmm.. maybe we should have done a more thorough psychological exam”

but that would be cool to get that cause they did say that the GBs would be doing that on busts, saying stuff and cracking jokes based on what you do, so why not do it at the firehouse as well.

they did say dan and harrold were designing and naming the equipment. Maybe they did take it from the rgb show

Maybe they can even make you actually have to empty your traps in the ECU

Sort of a resource management deal, where you need empty traps before you go somewhere.

Still wish you could drive the car…

I do like that they took her back to her original design somewhat… with the blue lights and the original logo. I liked the Ecto-1A, but it was hard to explain away the GB2 logo… I always interpreted it as the ghost giving a peice sign…

Looks like they merged the original look with the decals for the 1A, which works for me

If I did good on the game, would Venkman give me a chocolate bar?

i dont know, they did make janine empty traps in the second film. they might just say give them to her. but on a positive side, i would like to have it where you have to push buttons in a sequence to empty it into the ecu and if you did it wrong you would lock the containment or something. just a thought

Exactly… make it a hands on experience

like if you screw up you can accidently cause a containment breach, and someone like Winston comes running down fixes it, and yells at you for being careless.

I think the GB2 Outfits/outdoor sign would be a cool turn on/off unlockable. They could make it so if there are any game engine scenes, the scene would run with that stuff on.

Edit: I just thought of this, too. I hope you can enter your last name as the new member and have it appear on your outfit. I can’t imagine why that WOULDN’T be in the game.

I really always hated the ECU design in the cartoon, and while I like watching RGB, I have never and will never consider it cannon.

As for the HQ in the game, I’ll keep my distance for now. I’d love an interactive inviroment, but if the outside of the firehouse is any hint, the inside wont be terribly accurate. The sidewalk is too wide, and the building too big from what we have been shown. And the banner kind of bugs me.

Oh well, still excited.
